Many blockchain companies purport to be on a mission to fundamentally change the internet, but when the onion gets peeled back you’ll ultimately find the same centralized cloud providers powering the technology behind their chains. If the end result of all this is just for the incumbent tech lords of the last twenty years to get further entrenched in their moats, what’s the point really? Blockchain should be decentralized from the ground up, not just starting at the chain level. Yesterday Fleek launched Testnet {3}, and for the next few weeks developers have the ability to use a code playground to build and run javascript functions on the Fleek Network. >>http://play.fleek.network<< This is a big deal because it’s the first time the public has been able to experience running something on a decentralized edge network. For now it’s java script functions, but as Fleek continues it’s march towards a long term test net, and then a targeted main net later this year, the quantity and diversity of services and integrations that will be built on the network will continue to expand. Before long, Fleek’s usefulness for developers will be on par with the incumbent developer solutions that have colonized the internet. And it will be just as performant (if not more so). And it will be much, much cheaper. And it will be decentralized. A broad array of businesses will be built on top of the Network, while the Fleek platform becomes a hub of integrations and features that developers want to see available to them. Today it’s a code playground and javascript functions, but the long term vision with Fleek is to enable any developer, from any chain or no chain, to build the things the world wants in a way that is sustainable and open.
Fleek Network Testnet Phase {3} is officially live ⚡ This phase is the first showcase of Fleek Network's edge computing features, establishing a foundation for future services and use cases to come in Phase {4} and Mainnet. In Phase {3}, participants have the opportunity to create and deploy decentralized edge functions powered by Fleek Network. The code playground is live for anyone that wants to deploy their first Fleek Network Edge Function: https://lnkd.in/dyEuj5HT For more information on Phase {3}: https://lnkd.in/dpX_bV8k

One of the biggest feature gaps in serverless is how to handle sockets. “Like lambda for sockets Push a dockerfile and have sessions spin up and down on demand. ftw!
Our new site is live! It's not only a visual refresh, but a new approach to how we explain session backends and how they fit into your application. Check it out at Jamsocket.com
