Exploring Video Game Design with C++: Loading Bar Animation Here's a little snippet of code from a personal project I finished a while back. It is for a video game, an endless space shooter video game where the player is endlessly trying to survive a falling wave of obstacles. In this program, I added a feature to display a loading screen animation with a progress bar, and the code below shows how it works. This snippet is something I learned how to make from online research, and decided it would be a good addition to the game overall. My favourite part about this is the use of ASCII code. I've learned with this project and a previous one where I used ANSI code, just how well other code mechanics can be used to achieve certain functions with C++ and it is very interesting to play with. At the end of this section of the code, I also added a cout statement asking the user to press any key to continue. I've discovered that small additions like this help makes the project a lot more user friendly, which really makes the whole process worthwhile. #cpp #cplusplus #programming #project #research #gamedesign #cplusplusprogramming #ideas

In my game I gave my character the ability to transform into a wizard and learned a million things along the way. Mainly that I should not take too big of a goal for each development cycle. I took a decision to erase all my clean code from the last time, which expected all animations to be properly blended, because I could not make it work. Instead I went for Spagetti-code and quickly implemented walking, running and jumping with separate animations and an additional spell animation with an overlay for the duration of the spell. For me it is important to prioritize aesthetics over scalability to keep me motivated. #game #gamedev #development #gdscript #godot #prototype

I tried to recreate one of my favorite childhood arcade games in an attempt to cure my boredom. I decided to learn about the game development behind Street Fighter II and to be honest, it was quite a mouthful. I had to learn topics such as 2D sprite sheets, animation frames, frame timing, etc. I used the HTML5 Canvas API for rendering graphics (images) and JavaScript for animations. Although I was able to make the characters move around, I am still a long way from making a playable game. #coding #javascript #html #streetfighter #gamedevelopment #gamedesign

I decided to make Shooting gallery game 🤡 🎯🔫 Once in my childhood I often shot at shooting ranges and won various toys, well now I decided to make a mini game about it For what?👇🏻 Because it's time to consolidate a month of learning C# in Unity of course! And this is the final task of a big part of the course - to create your own game prototype My task is to use the counting mechanics as well as the knowledge I learned earlier, I think this lesson will help solidify all the new things I've learned about code Initially I couldn't think of an idea I wanted to implement because my skill set is too limited, but upon reflection I realized that it's not that hard to do different things with the arsenal that I have So I'm starting to make a very simple MVP prototype, I think I'll show it very soon, stay tuned 😉 #unity #shooter #game #gamedesign #prototypes #project #gamedev

First Portfolio Project in 2024 This year started with a Unity project based on a famous game by Stephen Critoph - "The World's Hardest Game" (great game, by the way! Try it online!). - Based on the original game, I have recreated traps' behavior, as well as logic behind keys (coins) needed to progress to the next level. - Project has a main menu, UI animations, and a game over screen for successful completion of the game. - About the level design: - Levels 1 and 2 have been created by me. - Level 3 is based on Stephen Critoph's level with my placement of keys. Windows Build is available here: https://lnkd.in/dNcGQ5rP The project was created as a portfolio piece and is not intended for commercial use.

Day 15/100 Working on creating a playing card that randomly generates a different card for one of my class projects. I think what draws me to JS is the logic behind doing even the most simple tasks that we take for granted. You cant cheat the code. So today working on: -JS logic to generate a random number 1-10 including face cards -adding icons -creating layout that resembles a playing card As far as difficulty I'd say this is fair, looking forward to incorporating this into my portfolio site and overall just proud to be consistent. #4geeks #100daysofcode #100daysofcodechallenge #fullstackdeveloper
