United Way of Will County is more than just a fundraiser. Through a network of partnerships and collaborations, United Way of Will County leads and coordinates a variety of different initiatives. Which one speaks to you the most? - 211: A free, multi-lingual, confidential, 24/7 information and referral service that provides a central access point to health and human services in Will County. - Diaper Depot: A free, community diaper program that provides one, pre-packaged bundle of 25 diapers, per child per month, to families experiencing hardships. - SingleCare: A prescription drug discount card, available to everyone, that helps uninsured and under-insured individuals and families. - Home Sweet Home: A community initiative designed to assist residents, through established community partners, with donated, new household items. - Hygiene for Humanity: A product supply drive that fulfills the need for hygiene items by local families and individuals in-need or experiencing homeless. - Online Volunteer Center: A volunteer platform that hosts a variety of opportunities throughout the county. - Emergency Food & Shelter Program (EFSP): A Federal Grant that United Way of Will County has locally administered since 1983. - Resilient Youth Initiatives: A federal grant to bring the Resilient Youth program to interested public and private schools across the county at no cost for the purchase of curricular materials or training. Dear LinkedIn community: You’re probably well aware of the homelessness crisis in San Francisco, but you may not know how it affects young people specifically: ❕ Almost 14 percent of the youth experiencing #homelessness in San Francisco live in Bayview-Hunters Point. ‼️ African-Americans make up 38 percent of San Francisco's young and unhoused population, while constituting only 6 percent of the city's population. 🛑 The #1 barrier is San Francisco’s cost of living, especially sky-high rents and move-in costs. As sobering as these facts are, the youth homelessness crisis in Bayview-Hunters Point is solvable. 3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic has helped more than 600 youth get off the streets and the organization just launched the “Keys To The Future'' 🔑campaign to continue finding permanent homes for Bayview-Hunters Point's young and unhoused. https://lnkd.in/gZjeUbyV Between now and midnight on 12/31/23, the campaign aims to raise $125,000. The sun beats down on the dirt outside a Phoenix soup kitchen. Our street medicine provider stands beside a young woman, her eyes fixed on the ground. "Deep breath for me," she says gently, hands ready. At this moment, the weight of our mission becomes clear. The numbers are stark: From April 2023 to March 2024, Maricopa County saw a troubling trend: for every ten people who found housing, 19 more were facing homelessness. Over the past year, 31,071 unique individuals were served through street outreach, emergency shelters, and transitional housing, according to the Maricopa Association of Governments Homelessness Trends data. This young woman is one of those 31,071. She has a story, a past, and a hope for the future. Our mission is to meet people like her where they are, offering immediate, compassionate care and a glimmer of hope. Our teams hit these streets daily, offering healthcare, resources, and connections to those often overlooked. Everyone deserves a shot at rewriting their story, no matter where they lay their heads at night. Today marks the official First Day of Summer. For the next five weeks we'll be doing a series highlighting AHCH's theories of change. This week is: "Reach Out!" Outreach is central to what we do. And at AHCH we do outreach a little bit differently. After the pandemic, homelessness has nearly doubled in Albuquerque, in just one year! Yet the demand for healthcare services has stagnated. We know people need our help but have a lot of barriers to getting the help they need. That's why at AHCH, our Integrated Health Outreach teams BREAK down barriers to provide lifesaving, trauma-informed, multidisciplinary care.
