#JPEX has shone a (very bright) light on issues that #CFAAR and other members of the legal and crypto community have been discussing for some time. The attention, and tension, caused by JPEX may seem to show a problem with the recent Hong Kong Virtual Asset Trading Platform regulations. People who have been tracking and advising on this realise the opposite is the case - without the VATP regulations, the apparent JPEX issues could have affected many more investors. The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has gone far beyond its usual measures for #TradFi licenses. The recent announcement of the #SFC and Hong Kong Police Force joint task force brings hope that the HKPF will gain the additional skills to respond effectively to #cryptofraud by bad exchanges, or by individuals.
