Warning:Warning: The healthcare industry's obsession with data science is actually stifling innovation - and it's time to rethink our approach. The biggest problem facing HealthTech, BioTech, MedTech, and PharmaTech startups today is that they're drowning in data, but struggling to translate complex data insights into actionable business decisions that drive revenue growth. To break free from this cycle, it's time to shift the focus from data science to data-driven decision-making, empowering every team member to make informed decisions rather than relying on gut feelings or anecdotal evidence. By making this shift, healthcare organizations can unlock the true potential of their data, drive meaningful revenue growth, and ultimately transform the future of healthcare, resulting in lives saved and a healthier world for all. https://lnkd.in/gtjpXgWf #HealthcareInnovation #DataDrivenDecisionMaking #HealthTech

Peter Fitzgerald's recent lecture at the MedTech Strategist Innovation Summit in Dublin stood out to me. Here's why: It's clear that the future of healthcare is being reshaped by technology, particularly AI and Generative AI. Peter spoke passionately about the potential of these technologies to revolutionize patient care by enabling highly personalized treatment plans and predictive health management. He emphasized the need for healthcare technologies to operate in real-time, allowing for proactive interventions that could dramatically reduce hospital readmissions and enhance patient outcomes. But, the integration and effectiveness of such technologies can be limited by existing data silos within the healthcare industry. Peter advocated for more open data ecosystems that would allow an unrestricted flow of information across various platforms and systems to maximize the potential impact of AI on patient care. At BioT Medical, we’re deeply inspired by these visions of a more connected and intelligent healthcare system. Our commitment goes beyond developing infrastructure. We aim to accelerate the healthcare industry's transition towards more open and collaborative environments. This commitment is rooted in our belief that the future of healthcare will rely heavily on our ability to seamlessly integrate diverse technologies, enhancing the capabilities of AI and Generative AI across the board. We believe that by creating an ecosystem where information is shared openly but securely, we make it easier to develop new healthcare solutions that are more personalized, predictive, and easy to access. This is more than our mission—it's our contribution to a future where healthcare technology realizes its full potential to improve human lives. Thank you, Peter, for such an inspiring and thought-provoking presentation. It's a reminder of the transformative impact that openness and advanced technology can have on healthcare. ----- Contact me if you’d like to see how BioT can help you adopt these technological advancements and break down data silos. It was great attending this conference last week - thanks very much to Paul Volley and the Lockton team for arranging it. Two amazing stats were shared that really brought the need for medtech to help us improve our "health expectancy" to life (shared by Andy Hyatt) 🧓 The first person who will live to age 150 has likely already been born ⚖60% of Europeans are overweight; half of >60s in the UK have at least two long-term health conditions The good news is there's some amazing technology already there - for example Japanese firm Innophys who have created wearable exoskeletons to aid lifting (supporting care of the elderly, and people to work longer), and it was inspiring to hear Bryn Davies from Proximie cover how its technology is connecting clinicians globally to improve patient outcomes. However, as the Lockton team explained - conforming to different national / regional regulatory requirements challenges ability to scale. Investment will also be key - thanks to Amar Shah, Karen Kirkham and the Deloitte team for sharing insight from their Future of Health report, which showed that - despite very tough times recently - VC investment into medtech is on a long-term growth trajectory, plus private equity dry powder is at its highest level ever (over $2.4tn!) Certainly an interesting space to be a part of.... #medtech #lifescience #innovation #venturecapital #privateequity #healthcare #reimbursement #patientcare
How should you prioritise potential investments in healthcare technology? Where are the near- and long-term market opportunities and risks? Our healthcare team recently attended Lockton and Baker McKenzie’s event The AI Effect: Disrupting Healthcare Investments to have conversations with industry experts about the impact of technology in the healthcare sector and where the investment opportunities lie. Here, the team shares reflections from the conference. #Healthcare #Technology #CILInsights #MedTech
