🔺Sustainable urban mobility is one of the main challenges facing cities in the EU and a key concern for many European citizens, as road transport is one of the primary sources of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in urban areas. The cost of traffic congestion to society is estimated at €270 billion annually. In this context, Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) are a key priority for the European Union, as they are considered capable of addressing the challenges and problems of transport planning in urban areas in an efficient and sustainable manner. They aim to create a sustainable urban transport and mobility system that ensures accessibility to jobs and services for all, improves the protection and safety of commuters, reduces pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy consumption, increases the efficiency and economic performance of transporting people and goods, and enhances the attractiveness and quality of the urban environment. 🏡Consortis, committed to the vision of sustainable urban development, continues to support local authorities in the country through the implementation of numerous SUMPs, in their efforts to create spaces with fewer cars and traffic. 🚴The European Mobility Week (EMW) has been established since 2002 as the most important institution at the European level for promoting sustainable mobility standards. It is organized annually from September 16 to 22, with hundreds of municipalities from across Europe participating. The highlight of the events is "Car-Free Day" on September 22, during which special urban zones are designated where private car traffic is prohibited, giving space to pedestrians, cyclists, scooters, and public transport. 🏞️This year's theme for EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK is "Shared Public Space." Creating shared public spaces offers numerous benefits to society. When people, different modes of transport, and various activities have their own space, it leads to greater social equity, improved road safety, reduced noise and air pollution, and an overall enhanced quality of life. Join us in shaping the future! Read the article: https://lnkd.in/dqEie9aD #Consortis #EuropeanMobilityWeek #SustainableUrbanMobility #SharedPublicSpace
