Getting on stage means a lot. And there’s a great deal you get back from it too. After being on stage at Webcertain’s #InternationalSocialSummit over in sunny Barcelona last week (woo!) there were four main things I took away from the experience: 1. Feedback - Your girl loves feedback, and to get such lovely comments afterwards from fellow marketers means a LOT. Speaking in front of an audience is no mean feat, so to hear that you’ve provided some value and help to your audience is one of THE BEST FEELINGS. 2. Validation - I was a bag of nerves before this talk. I hadn’t done a talk in a year or so, so I’d forgotten how it can feel. But I did it! And people listened. AND people had shared experiences! E.g. Looker Studio being our favourite and least favourite tool for reporting all at the same time! (if you have a trick for stopping supermetrics connections breaking ALL THE TIME please slide into my DMs thank you bye) 3. Connections - I left the conference with that warm fuzzy feeling. Chatting away at the pre-party and post-conference drinks with my new social media girl gang was an unexpected but very welcome surprise 💖 4. CONFIDENCE. My confidence hasn't been at it's highest this year, but speaking at the event was the perfect remedy. I’m back in the mindset of wanting to speak more rather than absolutely dreading it!
