Inspired by the charm of the original beach shack, Rockpool Apartments incorporates crisp white weatherboards and timber-look blades, bringing the coastal aesthetic to multi-residential development. Horizontal bands of cladding at balcony height are coupled with carefully placed inset windows and screens to establish a visually engaging rhythm that unifies diverse floorplates into a cohesive design. Situated on the outskirts of Terrigal’s primary business area, the building complements other mixed-use developments along Pine Tree Lane. Strategic use of screens, balconies, and architectural forms diminishes the perceived mass of the development. Improving accessibility and integration, retail tenancies and ground-floor units boast direct street access. The basement carpark is conveniently reached by a dedicated driveway. In response to the evolving skyline of Terrigal’s business hub, Rockpool stands as a 5-level structure, navigating its position between 2-storey private residences to the south and more substantial developments towards the business district. The units capitalise on natural light and ventilation, promoting sustainability by reducing the reliance on heating and cooling systems. This thoughtful approach reflects a commitment to the environment and to the wellbeing of residents. Rockpool Apartments was recently chosen as a case study by the NSW Government Architect as an example of well-designed mid-rise housing. There's something about a double-height extension that really brings a new lease of life to an urban home, especially when it's just one part of a project as well done as this one. A common feature of city-based renovation projects is re-integrating disparate rooms. In larger townhouses, they were often disconnected when these large homes were cut up into smaller flats for the growing middle classes of the early to mid-20th century. Unfortunately, a lot of the historic character was also lost at the same time. This London-based project brings cohesion back into the home beautifully, filling the space with light and a modern elegance, while also shining a light on the building's original features. https://lnkd.in/ehqv9RNK #homerenovation #homeextension #homeinspo #urbanarchitecture

The residential complex we designed is under construction in North-East Melbourne! This double-storey 10-unit complex comprises of ten, four-bedroom townhouses. Designed with a lower basement level comprising of 10 garage spaces and storage for each dwelling. ☀️This development was designed with a focus on maximising available views and nature light. 👥 In the design we incorporated more space than other developments in the area, allowing for a pedestrian street between the units. This creates a more liveable space, with room for greenery and plants and to go on a stroll through. 🌿 The landscaping softens the hard surfaces, creating a peaceful environment bathed in natural light, while increasing the perceived distance between the residences opposite each other. This more spacious design also increases resident’s safety, whilst fostering community. #design #architecturedesign #architecture #development #residential #residentialdesign #developer #propertydevelopment

Are you deciding between the character of an older home and a new build? Older homes often have unique architectural details in established neighborhoods, but they may require more maintenance and updates. New builds offer the latest in design and efficiency, yet sometimes lack the individuality of older properties. Or, do you want to move into a turnkey property? Consider factors like location, renovation needs, and personal style preferences.
