"When we see a lack of representation it is often assumed a lack of talent is the problem. That is very rarely the case.." Particularly in a (arguably the) global sport like football, even at elite level. Other sectors like business, government, higher education: take note. The talent is there. You aren't finding it and promoting it. Leave it too long and we'll make our own choices to go elsewhere. The story is not over by any means, but this shows what can happen with commitment from within and without. Salute to all those involved. #inclusion #inclusionmatters #diversityandinclusion #intersectionality #diversityequityinclusion #treatpeoplewell #weknowhow #identity #identitymatters #inclusiveleadership #inclusiveleader #inclusiveculture #beinclusive #bemoreinclusive #beinclusiveaboutinclusion #belonging #changeiscoming https://lnkd.in/eEF3KYqx

Arsenal Women are making history, with an all-female team running the grounds and tech operations in the upcoming North London Derby on 3 March. This momentous occasion is a testament to the club's commitment to driving change in women's sport. The club partnered with the WSL, Women in Football and the Grounds Management Association to make this happen. It's inspiring to see women and organisations collectively come together as a driving force and taking action for the betterment of women's sport, both on and off the pitch. Change is more powerful when we come together to achieve our goals. Strength is in numbers. Power is in unity. This isn't a trend. This is the present. This is the future. Women in sport. Women in business. Women leading the way in sport, business, and society. Let's continue to support and empower each other to create a better future for all. #WomenInSport #GenderEquality #DiversityAndInclusion
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐲 We’re proud to announce an all-female team will run our grounds and tech operations for the very first time in the North London Derby on March 3. They will be joined by senior female leads overseeing policing, operations and stewarding at the game. We’re proud to see the consistent level of support for our women's team this season. The sustainable growth of the game relies on continuing to nurture that audience, and inspiring a new generation of young girls and boys into the game. As Women’s History Month gets underway, we hope that our female role models – from the pitch to the control room – provide that inspiration, and demonstrate the different opportunities for people to get into the game at all levels. #PeopleofNSCC impacting media and broadcasting. Thanks Javiere for adding your voice to this important Board!
Humbled to join colleagues on the CBC/Radio-Canada NS Community Advisory Board to further amplify the voices of African Nova Scotian and persons of African Descent to promote the black experience to enable diverse perspectives to be considered in a culturally competent manner in main stream media—CBC. This inclusion driver stands to more authentically narrate the lived experiences of African Nova Scotian and showcase the vibrancy of Nova Scotia’s multiculturalism. I want to thank the CBC team for leading this historic initiative and for bestowing the confidence in me and my fellow board members to support this culture shift in media and public broadcasting. https://lnkd.in/egRe7xkh

🥇Meritocracy vs Mediocrity🥉 As the world comes together to celebrate the Olympic Games, we are reminded of the essence of human achievement, excellence and the relentless pursuit of greatness. The Olympic Games are not merely a showcase of athletic prowess; they embody the spirit of meritocracy – a system where individuals are rewarded based on their abilities, effort and achievements. However, in recent years, there has been a growing trend in schools and communities to de-emphasise competition, with some advocating for participation trophies and awards for everyone, regardless of performance. This shift raises important questions about the impact of such practices on individuals and society as a whole. In this blog post I talk about the negative impact of downplaying competition and address common objections from those who are too uncomfortable to disappoint their children. At our recent BVRC International Volunteer Forum 2023, themed 'Making a difference through empowering others,' our panelists, including Kate Bellamy, Coordinator of Volunteer Services at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne and President of the Burwood Cricket Club, shared insights on enabling a diverse community to volunteer. Kate highlighted the positive impact of having females in executive roles on the Cricket Club committee, leading to the creation of innovative programs not previously considered in what has traditionally been a male-dominated sport. Kate also offered practical tips for fostering diversity within organisations: 1️⃣ Embrace a new perspective: Start viewing things from a different lens, both as individuals and organisations, to attract a more diverse volunteer base. 2️⃣ When inviting volunteers to join committees, start with smaller tasks, such as participating in a subcommittee, to make the commitment less overwhelming. 3️⃣ Develop an Inclusion and Diversity Action Plan outlining the vision for diversity within your organisation. Establish short, medium, and long-term goals, incorporating quick and easy wins to build momentum and attract others to what you are doing. Let's continue making a positive impact in our communities through enabling our diversity community to volunteer! Do you have any tips to share? #diversityandinclusion #communityimpact #volunteerleadership #empowerothers
