President and CEO of the National Fire Protection Association committed to helping reduce loss with information, knowledge, and passion.
Fireworks are often part of many July Fourth celebrations, but they are more dangerous than some may think. Each year, fireworks cause more than 19,000 fires and every 4th of July, there are thousands of injuries caused by fireworks. In areas prone to wildfire, they pose an added risk. With the holiday fast approaching, it’s important to understand the associated risks with fireworks. NFPA has long advocated against the use of consumer fireworks in favor of professional displays put on by those who are trained. There are also alternatives to fireworks being used in many places. NFPA has provided recommendations for safer ways to celebrate the holiday. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eG57HUp8

In the United States, as we prepare to celebrate our nation's independence with the spectacular tradition of fireworks, let's remember to prioritize safety. Here are some tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable July 4th celebration: 1. Leave it to the Professionals: The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a public display conducted by trained professionals. 2. Follow Local Laws: Make sure fireworks are legal in your area before buying or using them. 3. Never Allow Children to Handle Fireworks: Even sparklers can reach temperatures hot enough to cause severe burns. 4. Keep a Safe Distance: Spectators should stay a safe distance away from the fireworks. If you're setting them off yourself, retreat to a safe distance immediately after lighting. 5. Be Prepared: Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of a malfunction or fire. Remember, safety is paramount when it comes to fireworks. Let's celebrate our independence responsibly. Our team at Risk Mitigation Technologies, LLC wishes everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July! https://lnkd.in/eu4JkjZ #July4th #FireworksSafety #IndependenceDay
