Today #MRCG joins the world in celebrating the #WorldRadioDay with a theme, Radio:A Century Informing, entertaining and educating. The theme for 2024 shines a broad floodlight on radio's remarkable past, relevant present and promise of a dynamic future. Radio as a medium of communication is now over 100 years old and it comes in diverse landscape, from commercial networks to independent broadcasters. Radio has contributed in enriching our lives and society,and continues to do so. Radio has relatively served as a free and portable form of communication during emergencies, politics, conflicts, news, drama, music and sports. Even when we face certain challenges, whether brought on by natural or man_made disasters it has served as a vessel for free speech and a grassroots tool for connecting underserved minorities. In 1972, Norway was among the first European countries to transition to regular color television broadcasts. This innovation significantly enhanced the viewing experience for audiences accustomed to black and white television.    . While there appears to be some confusion regarding Norway being the absolute first country in the world to broadcast in color TV, historical records indicate that several European nations, including the United Kingdom, West Germany, and the Netherlands, had already begun regular color broadcasts by 1967-1968. Norway likely initiated its transition around 1969-1970, aligning with the broader European movement towards color television. The NTSC (National Television Standards Committee) system, though mentioned, was not the standard adopted by Norway. Great seeing how much work has gone into Greek public broadcaster ERT S.A. HELLENIC BROADCASTING CORPORATION to upgrading its premises and studios, and is clearly reaping the rewards by gaining more younger audiences, the target of all operators in the media space, but also for older generations. As Noel the DG from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) said, it's an incredible achievement to consider that ERTflix is in the top 10 VOD platforms in Europe, considering the size of the Greek market vis a vie other European markets. It's really interesting to see how #psbs are taking steps to implement #ai in their platforms, and develop it in the #mediaindustry. It's something we need to see more of going forward. Our ATM’s will not work. After the 10 days of Communication Darkness, we will connect to a new quantum internet. * People are urged to stock up on at least three weeks of food and water. Be prepared with food, water, toilet paper, generators etc. for this great awakening reveal. * We are promised the new Star-link Internet System by the end of the month. * As we speak the teams coordinating this important historic event are revamping the E.B.S to ensure the utmost security for all involved so remain patient as things get finalized.
