I am running to reform the status quo in Montgomery County Public Schools.
Pupils from disenfranchised communities often do not have access to a robust education. The standard for a rigorous academic environment is waning. Students from marginalized communities fall behind academic performance requirements. Additionally, by not offering a wide variety of strong CTE options as a college substitute, our educational system has failed to serve the needs of our children from marginalized communities.
Teachers are not adequately protected and endure toxic workplace conditions. This accounts for the ongoing, turbulent civil litigation that Montgomery County Public Schools is dealing with. Not to mention the lack of transparency that stakeholders have endured. Paraprofessionals are underfunded, and there's a lack of special education staff.
Abstract political theory takes precedence in our public pedagogical system in lieu of prioritizing academic proficiency for all students. We need to get back to the centrist bipartisan consensus, make education apolitical, and focus on competency regarding literacy, numeracy, and college readiness.
Through innovative budgetary solutions, we can pay our support professionals competitive wages. Moreover, the eradication of the achievement gap can be achieved through research-based policies that are substantive and effective. Let's get back to the center, prioritize educational proficiency, and protect vital staffers in our educational system. It's time we fight for an adequate and equitable education for all!
