Paws of War recently hosted a reunion event for three soldiers who, for the first time since their deployment, were reunited with the dogs they cared for and rescued while serving overseas in Eastern Europe. The three soldiers traveled to Nesconset, NY from Colorado and Rhode Island to officially adopt these beloved animal friends.
Paws of War is also raising awareness about the cost of Paws of War’s mission and effort to return 18 more dogs from the same overseas region.
As part of its War-Torn Pups and Cats program, Paws of War recently rescued Ace, Shadow, Runtie and Racha from a military base in Eastern Europe, where they then safely travelled to the organization’s HQ in Nesconset. The four pups were struggling to survive without food and water before they were rescued by the three soldiers.
Paws of War is currently on a mission to bring 18 more dogs home safely to the U.S. These four dogs are just a few of the more than 60 rescues of dogs and cats that Paws of War currently has underway around the world. These rescue missions cost thousands of dollars per animal. All expenses are covered by Paws of War.

MODERN DAY BARRACKS AND THE STEREOTYPES
What comes to your mind when you hear of the barracks? What impression do you have of the "barrack boy"?
Many would say that barracks are communities where people can't speak English as pidgin is the lingua franca, houses are dilapidated with inadequate social amenities, streets are flooded with youths that are rugged, illiterates and prostitutes, women are gossips, etc. These are some of the archaic stereotype which stands against the image of an average barrack boy/girl even till this day.
While this may have been arguably true in the 90s, our barracks and its institutions have clearly evolved over the years and the Nigerian Air Force is taking the lead at reshaping the negative status of military barracks. NAF bases all of the country is setting the standard with its beautiful neat barracks equipped with state of the art infrastructures and basic amenities including very good roads, adequate electricity & water supply, schools, hospitals, refurbished mammy markets, sports & shopping complex, etc. The barracks can easily pass for a first class estates. This improvement also extends to the home-front as modern day barrack breeds are well read, talented discipline and brave contrary to the ancient popular belief.
Did you also live or grew up in the barracks? Please share in the comment section some of the common misconceptions/stereotypes and how you think the barracks, its institutions and youths have changed over the years.
