One of the most powerful tools predators use is their camouflage. As they blend in, it makes it easier for them to access their prey while reducing the risk of being caught or injured. When you learn Predator Methodology, you can view the world with an increased ability to spot them and avoid becoming a victim. This is why we strive to make our Predator Identification classes available to as many individuals, families and leaders as possible. The Safe Library Tip #27, with Layla and me. Within the concept of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), there is an overarching security idea known as being a "Capable Guardian." This is where we we use all possible resources to protect our buildings, our staff, and the customers we serve, including cameras, burglar, fire, and panic alarms, key cards, better door locks, and safe rooms. Have you maximized every security resource to keep your library, your collections, your colleagues, and your patrons safe? Do we train all employees on building security and safety, as often as we can? That's what Capable Guardians do. #libraries #librarians #TheSafeLibrary @TheSafeLibrary www.Library2.0.com https://lnkd.in/gqnZpfjn

On July of last year, I stopped a mass shooting, but you probably never heard about it. Because I was a good guy with a gun, national news never covered my story. It's a scary reality that evil exists in our world, and we cannot solely rely on others for our safety. We must take the responsibility to protect ourselves and our loved ones. This is why I am a dedicated advocate for responsible gun ownership and empowering individuals to defend themselves. Let's not wait for tragedies to happen before we take action. Let's raise awareness about the importance of responsible gun ownership and the right to self-defense. Together, we can make our communities safer and stand against evil. #responsiblegunownership #selfdefense #standagainstevil

ShotSpotter and ACLU in Boston, MA. Kade Crockford, director of the Technology for Liberty Project at the ACLU of Massachusetts, and Thomas Chittum, SoundThinking (formerly ShotSpotter)'s SVP of Analytics and Forensic Services, joins Katie Lannan to discuss ShotSpotter's role and impacts in Boston on WGBH Radio and Television. "When you remove the opinion pieces and look at the facts, what you see is that ShotSpotter works. We are locating gunfire. We are leading [police and first responders] to crime scenes. We are leading them victims. We are not simply getting lucky..." Insightful conversation. There is a lot of alignment between SoundThinking and core ACLU principles. https://lnkd.in/gEd8XgUN #publicsafety #shotspotter #communitysafety #civilliberties
ShotSpotter aims to detect gunshots instantly. The ACLU says it's ineffective.
