Here is a tip to make sure you’re setting up to the ball properly! If you’re reaching out to grip the club - you’re actually standing too far from the ball. Once you address the ball and hinge properly from your hips, you need to allow your arms to dangle naturally from your shoulders and then grip the club. This will put you in the ideal setup. During the Girlfriends Golf Experience, after an hour of instruction indoors, we head out to the teeing area to cover: -Preparing For Your Round -Where to Stand -Order of Play -How to Start on Time and Keep That Pace Throughout the Round -Provisional Ball Rules -Lost Ball Definition -Watching all Ball Until They Stop Rolling -Stroke-and-Distance Questions are encouraged throughout the clinic. It's at this point that the ladies are beginning to feel more comfortable with asking questions as we continue on to unplayable lies, relief from ACC and penalty areas. Many golfers believe they need to make a backswing with their arms and shoulders. This is a problem to think this way because it takes the club inside the path and can promote a sway and straining the back. Instead if you focus on taking the club away through the correct use of the hands connected with the pivot of the hips you co-ordinate the hip turn to move the arms and shoulders away on the right path. So next time you have a problem swinging the club on the right path or start swaying or feel a strain on your back then realise that you are taking the club away too much with the arms and shoulders instead the hands and hips like we teach in our system.
