As we wrap up National Public Works Week, we’re excited to spotlight our most important transportation project: the Dublin Boulevard Extension. This long-planned extension will create a crucial link between neighboring cities, enhancing transportation infrastructure and improving neighborhood access for local residents. You may have seen members of our Public Works and Communications teams discussing the project back in March at the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, alongside engineers from BKF Engineers. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and showed interest! Our Public Works Department consists of dedicated individuals committed to enhancing the quality of life for all Dublin residents through a variety of essential duties. We could easily dedicate an entire month to showcasing their great work, but for now, we’ll conclude here.

It's time our elected officials rethink the use of union-only project labor agreements (PLAs) on publicly-financed construction. While they may seem like good politics, they are terrible public policy. Not only do these requirements hurt local and minority-owned businesses, but they also outsource Maryland jobs. On top of that, they make construction significantly more expensive. Check out the latest video from the MD Coalition for Fairness and Open Competition, a group of diverse small business organizations working to end PLAs in Maryland. Let's work together towards a fair and open competition in Maryland's construction industry. Watch the video here: https://lnkd.in/gtbr8vJW

Check out the new "Up Close" article featuring Maida Hot.
In reflecting on a career in lighting consultancy, Maida Hot reminisces about a groundbreaking project 30 years ago – the Elizabeth Fry Building at the University of East Anglia. Despite early success in low-energy design, she notes the stagnation in lighting research and advocates for a reevaluation of design criteria in the modern visual environment. Emphasizing the importance of collaboration across disciplines, Maida encourages open communication, vulnerability, and engagement with architects, engineers, and others to enrich lighting designs and foster successful, repeatable partnerships in the industry. Founder CultureSmith Inc. | I share actionable tips on Culture, Leadership, and Emotional Intelligence to convert stress into a source of growth for your company - and wellbeing for its people. | #WorkAsWellbeing
What does the workplace have in common with traffic? Why do you get nervous when a cop pulls up behind you at a red light - even though you’re not even moving? How is it we can drive to or from work, only to forget how we got there? What can speed limits - and the fact we all break them - teach us about why a company’s core values are so ineffective? These are just a few traffic related metaphors I’ll be using to break down the science of emotional intelligence, respect and belonging during my keynote, “Culture Rules Without Rules” on February 29th at City of Calgary and Alberta Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association Partnering with Industry Symposium. Information can be found here: https://hubs.ly/Q02lmW2s0 You’re not going to want to miss it. #Culture #Keynote #EmotionalIntelligence
