Let Her Explore, Teach Him Respect: Reframing How We Raise Our Children. This International Women's Day, let's challenge some ingrained norms. Often, daughters are discouraged from venturing outside due to safety concerns, while sons are left to roam freely. This approach limits girls' experiences and reinforces the idea that the world is inherently unsafe for them. Instead, let's: Empower our daughters: Encourage them to explore their surroundings, fostering independence and confidence. Teach them safety skills, but don't clip their wings. Educate our sons: The responsibility for creating a safe space lies with everyone. Teach boys respect for all genders, and that true strength lies in kindness and empathy. By raising both daughters and sons to be confident, responsible individuals, we can build a world where everyone feels safe to explore their full potential. #IWD #BreakTheBias #RaisingEmpoweredChildren #EqualityForAll #women's day

Defend childhood. Demand selfhood. The Government’s Guidance for Gender-Questioning Children, released in December, does nothing to support trans* children. In fact, it encourages bullying and discrimination, and seeks to exclude, isolate and humiliate trans* students. Even the phrase ‘Gender-Questioning’, refuses to see trans* children for who they are, suggesting that they’re simply confused or going through a phase (does that sound familiar to anyone?). This language denies the existence of young trans people, and their lived experience of themselves and their gender. The Government using this language shows how mainstream and unquestioned the transphobic attitudes that underpin and fuel abuse of trans children and people have become. We must act now. Respond to the consultation on the proposed guidance, and stand up for the right of trans children to express their identities, and be treated with respect and compassion. Note: We use trans* to refer to trans and non-binary individuals. #GovernmentConsultation #ProtectTransKids #WeAreSelfhood #GenderEquality

Community leaders are vital allies in ensuring the protection, inclusion, and well-being of intersex children. Their involvement can change hearts and minds, shape policies, and create safe environments where intersex children can thrive. Congratulations team Intersex Kenya Education and Advocacy for good job you are doing. #intersexkenyaeducationandadvocacy #internationalsolidarityfoundation #Centreforthestudyofadolescence #centerforsportsandgrowth #Frankierobertkibagendi
Intersex Kenya Education and Advocacy (I.K.E.A)got an opportunity to sensitize community leaders why they should protect Intersex children in the society. 1). I.K.E.A encouraged community leaders to be champions of intersex rights by promoting positive attitudes and challenging harmful practices. 2). Leaders can help create safe environments by raising awareness, influencing policy at the local level, and ensuring that intersex children and their families are supported. 3). We discussed the importance of creating an inclusive society where intersex children are not subjected to bullying, discrimination, or social exclusion in schools and other community settings. 4). We asked the leaders to be advocates for gender-neutral policies in schools, health centers, and community services that allow intersex children to live without fear of being forced into a binary gender role. Thank you to our local partners Madiva CBO, International Solidarity Foundation and media house for sensitizing the society on the intersex children rights. #internationalsolidarityfoundation #intersexkenyaeducationandadvocacy #intersexkenya #intersexrightsarehumanrightstoo #minds #centerforsportsandgrowth #Centreforthestudyofadolescence #jinsiangu #knchr #deboranyambane #brendaalwayi #Frankiekibagendi #dianaaberi #chriskach #mybodymybody #carolinegithaiga #carolinemomanyi #shamiriinstitute https://lnkd.in/e5BgDfHa

🌟 International Day of the Boy Child,! 🌟 A day to focus on boys and their well-being, their needs to feel happy, healthy, and valued within family and community. In our pursuit of gender equity, let's not overlook the challenges boys face. Many grow up in tough environments without positive male role models, making them vulnerable to harmful influences like social media promoting toxic masculinity. 🚫 International Boy's Day, celebrated on May 16th, reminds us to support boys' well-being too! 💙 The Character Company stresses the importance of positive male role models, offering mentorship programs to fill this gap. Let's break the stigma around masculinity and ensure boys get the care they need! Join the fight against fatherlessness and boys growing up without a MENtor. 🌟💪 #InternationalBoysDay #SupportBoysWellBeing #MENtor #boys #values #character #TCCmentoring #Happy #Healthy #Valued

What matters is that this death was 100% preventable. Want to help prevent death by suicide for Trans & Gender Non-conforming kids? Start here: 1. Use the child’s identified pronouns. 2. Use the child’s identified name. 3. Advocate for and/or provide safe, gender neutral bathrooms. 4. DO NOT question a child’s gender identity, affirmed name, or pronouns. 5. If you have questions, do some research (Organizations like GLSEN and PFlag have accurate information). 6. Educate and hold other students accountable for harm towards their gender diverse peers. 7. And last, but definitely not least: Don’t choose to be an a-hole. Life is hard enough for kids.🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈✊🏻 #protecttranskids

Empowering the Boy Child 🤴🏿👷🏿♂️👮🏿♂️👦🏿👨🏿🚒👱🏿♂️ It's time we shine a light on the importance of empowering the boy child! Every boy deserves the opportunity to grow into a confident, compassionate, and responsible individual. Here are a few ways we can support their journey: Encourage Emotional Expression: Let boys know it's okay to express their feelings. Emotional intelligence is key to healthy relationships and personal well-being. Promote Respect and Equality: Teach boys to respect everyone, regardless of gender, race, or background. Equality starts with understanding and respect. Foster Interests and Talents: Support their passions, whether it's in the arts, sciences, sports, or any other field. Every interest is valuable and worth pursuing. Provide Positive Role Models: Surround boys with role models who exemplify kindness, integrity, and strength. Role models can inspire them to achieve great things. Encourage Critical Thinking: Help boys develop critical thinking skills to make informed decisions and stand up for what they believe in. Let's work together to build a future where every boy can thrive and contribute to a better world. #EmpoweringBoys #FutureLeaders #Equality #PositiveChange #SupportOurBoys #BoyEmpowerment #RaisingBoys #HealthyMasculinity #EmotionalIntelligence #RespectForAll #BoysMatter #PositiveRoleModels #BoysDevelopment #BoysToMen #InspireBoys #BuildingFutureLeaders #SupportBoysGrowth #CompassionateBoys #BoysWellbeing

eltonix has presented on fostering kindness in the classroom and the need to go deeper by including our social justice framework. We really recommend you read this article, 'Teaching Kindness Isn't Enough' by Bret Turner. https://lnkd.in/dGHdA5md "Young children are not only developing a sense of morality; they are developing a sense of who they are. This includes their race, gender, class and more. These identities have never been treated or represented equally in our society, so when we teach about love, acceptance and kindness without addressing this inequity, we gloss over crucial differences in the ways our students experience the world." When you have a few minutes, take a look and let us know what you think. #eltonix #teachenglish #teacherdevelopment #teachersupport #classroomideas #teachertraining #socialjustice #education #kindness
