🌞This was a big week for the City of Long Beach🌞 The city council voted to enroll 470 of their municipal accounts into PowerMarket's community solar program! 🎉 This is a monumental shift towards a sustainable future! By switching this portion of their energy demand, they're setting a powerful example for cities nationwide and proving that Californians want community solar options. This initiative not only aligns with Long Beach’s ambitious climate goals but also brings significant savings. The city will save an estimated $35,000 annually, demonstrating that achieving climate goals doesn't have to come with costs. What's even more exciting? Long Beach residents and other SCE customers who don’t have rooftop solar can also enroll in this program. This inclusive approach ensures that everyone in the community can contribute to and benefit from a cleaner, greener future. Check the comments for a link to sign up. Shout out to Jason Kaplan, the incredible Long Beach Sustainability Team, and the dedicated Long Beach City council and Mayor for making this possible. #CommunitySolar #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #LongBeach #PowerMarket #ClimateAction

We're thrilled to be working on a groundbreaking project in Melbourne's west, in partnership with the Department of Transport and Planning, RMIT University, Centre for New Energy Technologies (C4NET), Monash University, CitiPower and Powercor. The Digital Twin-enabled Sustainable Sunshine Precinct development project will utilise the cutting-edge digital twin technology available through the DTV platform https://lnkd.in/gQTQgpyD to transform Sunshine Precinct into a model for sustainable urban development. Here's what this means: ➡ Data-driven decisions: We'll leverage data on energy, water, buildings, greenery, and urban climate to make informed choices about the precinct's future. ➡Building resilience: The project will focus on making Sunshine Precinct more resistant to climate change, including extreme weather events like heatwaves and droughts. ➡Exploring clean energy: We'll investigate ways to use renewable energy sources like solar power and community batteries, promoting a low-carbon future. By creating a more sustainable and resilient Sunshine Precinct, we're paving the way for a greener, healthier future for all Australians. 🌍 Can Dundee Become Scotland's First Net Zero City? 🌱 Dundee is taking a bold step towards a sustainable future. The Dundee City Council recently approved an ambitious plan that could see Dundee become Scotland's first net zero city. The Local Area Energy Plan (LAEP), created by the Dundee Climate Leadership Group (DCLG), maps out a comprehensive approach to create an energy system that is both innovative and clean. The LAEP is targeting several key areas to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Retrofitting 50,000 homes by 2033 and another 20,000 homes by 2045 is crucial for increasing energy efficiency. This plan could dramatically decrease residential energy consumption and bring long-term benefits to homeowners by lowering energy bills. Additionally, the city aims to cover up to a third of its heating needs through low carbon technologies like heat networks and heat pumps. Transport also plays a significant role in Dundee's net zero ambitions. By creating safer walking and cycling routes, the LAEP intends to reduce transport demand by 15%. Moreover, increasing investment in electric vehicle charging points and promoting alternative transport fuels will further propel the city towards its green goals. Encouraging the installation of PV panels and battery systems in buildings is another step forward in Dundee's solar energy aspirations, aiming to persuade more consumers to adopt this technology 🌞. Can Dundee achieve this ambitious plan? It certainly has the framework and backing to do so. The success of this initiative will depend on continued investment, community involvement, and technological advancements. What are your thoughts on Dundee's path to becoming net zero? Leave your comments below or visit https://lnkd.in/etMxsDyu to learn more! #NetZero #Sustainability #CleanEnergy

Our social media manager recently returned from the incredible Burning Man experience, where she witnessed an impressive amount of solar expertise! From her camp to some of the most iconic art installations, the desert was a shining example of what’s possible with sustainable energy. This year, Black Rock City had 1,188 placed camps. According to Bryant Tan, Associate Director of City Planning in Black Rock City, 52% of placed camps in 2024 were working towards Burning Man’s 2030 Environmental Sustainability Roadmap, and 61% were using alternative power, primarily solar. “If things go according to plan for this event, we will have reduced the carbon impact of producing power for the infrastructure of BRC by more than 65% in just three years’ time,” says Chris Neary, the Associate Director of the DPW known as ChAos. Burners have always led the way in innovating cultural, technological, and logistical solutions—and now, these innovations are making their way into the wider world to tackle global challenges far beyond Black Rock City! #SolarPower #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy #CarbonNegative #EnvironmentalSustainability #BurningMan2024 #SolarInnovation #SustainableLiving #EnergyTransition #SolarGrid #GreenTechnology #EcoFriendly #FutureOfEnergy #NetZero2030 #SustainableSolutions #SolarCommunity #EnergyEfficiency

🌿 Embracing Change: The Energy Transition in Latrobe Valley 🌿 The Latrobe Valley in Gippsland is undergoing a remarkable transformation as it shifts from traditional energy sources to more sustainable alternatives. This transition not only reflects the vision of the Council for a greener and more resilient future but also addresses the concerns of the community while bringing the regional area together in unity. Transcend Managed Services are proud to be working with Latrobe City Council and Latrobe Valley Authority and are showcasing their case study at Morwell Innovation Centre tomorrow. Partnerships are cornerstone to growth. For decades, the Latrobe Valley has been synonymous with coal-fired power generation, playing a significant role in Australia's energy landscape. However, as the world moves towards cleaner and renewable energy sources, the Valley has embraced this change with determination and innovation. The transition to renewable energy not only aligns with the Council's vision for a sustainable future but also demonstrates a commitment to reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change. This shift has not been without its challenges, and the concerns of the community have been at the forefront of the transition process. The impact on local jobs, economies, and livelihoods has been a key consideration, prompting stakeholders to collaborate and find solutions that benefit both the environment and the community. Through open dialogue, engagement, and collaboration, the community has been actively involved in shaping the transition, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are met. What is truly inspiring is how this energy transition has brought the regional area together in unity. Despite differing perspectives and interests, stakeholders have come together to work towards a common goal of a sustainable and prosperous future for the Latrobe Valley. This shared vision has fostered a sense of community pride, resilience, and innovation, driving positive change and creating new opportunities for growth and development. As we witness the transformation taking place in the Latrobe Valley, let us celebrate the power of adaptation, collaboration, and unity in driving positive change. By embracing innovation, sustainability, and community engagement, we can create a brighter future for generations to come and inspire others to follow in our footsteps towards a more sustainable and inclusive world. #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #CommunityEngagement #Innovation #Unity #LatrobeValley

2moSo much has been said yet very little has actually been done.. The “Rainwater Rainfall Drainage Fee” being encumbered by Detroit’s water customers should be outlawed and illegal.. Only God Knows how much rainfall & rainwater there is going to be and all rainfall is an act of God and should not be subjected to a fee or tax!!
