If you recently swam at Belle Isle Beach over the weekend and are experiencing gastrointestinal illness symptoms of nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea or vomiting, call your personal physician if symptoms last more than 48 hours. Based on the results of water sample testing conducted on July 10 by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and provided today to the Detroit Health Department, the Health Department has directed the MDNR to close Belle Isle Beach until additional MDNR testing shows water quality has returned to safe levels. The recent MDNR testing showed elevated levels of E. coli bacteria. Please avoid contact with the water in this area until further notice.

So much has been said yet very little has actually been done.. The “Rainwater Rainfall Drainage Fee” being encumbered by Detroit’s water customers should be outlawed and illegal.. Only God Knows how much rainfall & rainwater there is going to be and all rainfall is an act of God and should not be subjected to a fee or tax!!
