Experienced Investment Director | Portfolio Management | Impact Investing, ESG & Sustainability Specialist | Non-Executive Director
It was a pleasure to moderate a panel at The Impact Investor Global Summit in London this week, discussing impactful opportunities in healthcare investing. Many thanks to our expert panel Manuela Rankine GHO Capital Partners LLP, Jon Coker Eka Ventures, Abrar Mir Quadria Capital, Rudy Dekeyser and Bruce B. Simpson AgeTech Capital. While decarbonisation, energy transition, biodiversity, and natural capital dominate impact investing discussions, it's crucial to recognise that social impact opportunities like those in healthcare can offer deep impact and great diversification benefits within portfolios. Some key takeaways from the session: *Populations and health systems face unprecedented social and health challenges which have led to vast unmet needs around the world #agingpopulation #chronicdiseases #mentalhealth *Advancements in science innovation and technology are generating opportunities like never before but they need capital investment in order to flourish. *Healthcare investments are not impact by default. Having clarity of purpose in a business model, an intention to create faster, better accessibility and affordability in healthcare products and services, these are just as important as profitability. #impactinvesting #healthcareinvesting #socialimpact

#didverse and digitalundivided investors looking to learn how your investment can shift the health of communities, listen here. Colby Dailey and Multiplier Advisors are sure to deliver great insights.
ICYMI: The Compass Series session co-hosted by Multiplier Advisors’ Colby Dailey and Tideline’s Ben Thornley is available to watch now! Four of our key takeaways from this conversation about health system impact investment were: 🔨 Impact investing is an important tool in a health system’s toolbox for advancing mission - grants, supply chain, hiring, community health programs, and policy work can all be aligned to a common impact thesis. 📣 Local foundations with deep community engagement are critical partners for convening and scaling place-based investments with hospitals. 📊 More innovation is needed to track, collect, and report data about mission-aligned impact work within the healthcare sector. 💡 Interest in impact assets among health investors is growing - and there are bright spots to guide the way. Thank you to the panelists who joined us for the conversation: Mikelle Moore (Multiplier Advisors), John Vu (Kaiser Permanente), Reginald E. Gordon, Esq. (Richmond Memorial Health Foundation), and David Zuckerman (Healthcare Anchor Network). Watch the Compass Series session to learn more from these health leaders! #anchormission #impactinvesting #sdoh #healthcare https://lnkd.in/gxQqcc49

Evidence of success in impact investing is crucial and pivotal to go above hype and fully harness its potential, to effectively mitigate the social and climate challenges threatening our very existence and livehood today. Well done and kudos to the awesome team at ABC Impact! #TemasekTrust #TemasekTrustEcosystem #BuildingBetterforEveryGeneration #ImpactInvesting
ABC Impact recently released their latest impact report, highlighting a year of milestones. In 2023, their portfolio companies empowered over 26.9 million people with essential services, and 2.9 million patients with healthcare services. Carbon emissions were reduced by 1.71 million metric tonnes. They also invested into solutions addressing plastic pollution and food waste. Building on the track record of their inaugural US$300 million fund, the team launched their second impact fund, ABC Impact Fund II, in August 2023. They have secured over US$550 million in their first closing, with the final close expected at the end of the year. By collaborating with promising founders and companies to develop solutions for critical social and environmental challenges, #ABCImpact is amplifying their impact and driving positive change across #Asia. At Temasek Trust, we believe impact investing is an effective lever for #sustainability, enabling companies to deliver both profit and purpose – showing that there need not be trade-offs when it comes to returns. As a founding investor of ABC Impact which is managed by Temasek Trust Asset Management (TTAM), we are heartened to see the progress and impact made year on year. Congratulations to the ABC Impact team for another stellar year! Driving Global Health Equity & Access: Bridging Data, Communities, and Partnerships for Positive Impact | With a Heart in the Amazon Forest 🌳
Even before I became a physician, I have been driven by a vision of a world where everyone has #access to quality and affordable #healthcare, regardless of where they live or who they are. This vision has guided my career choices, from working as a clinician in low-resource settings, to leading global health programs and organizations like Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative - DNDi. Now at Baraka Impact Finance this vision translates into our daily efforts to mobilize #investments to support brilliant #entrepreneus and ultimately transform health where it’s most needed. Along this journey, I have learned that improving health outcomes and access for #underservedcommunities around the world is not only a moral imperative, but also a smart investment. There are tremendous opportunities to support #innovativesolutions that can address the health challenges for millions in #lmics, while generating positive social and financial returns. In our latest article on ImpactAlpha, my colleague James Bair and I explore how investors are forging new roadmaps for #healthimpact in these markets. We highlight some of the key trends and #impactinvesting opportunities that are shaping the health sector, including: - The growing demand and supply of novel solutions that can address longstanding historic challenges, such as underdeveloped health systems, care disparities, and health workforce shortages. - The emergence of new impact-centric investment models that can mitigate risk and scale impact, while aligning social needs and commercial opportunities. - The availability of amazing talent and technology that can enable massive health impact, such as digital health, data management, and AI-driven decision support tools. - The potential to unlock more capital and support scalable innovations that can impact the lives of millions, through cross-sector partnerships and collaboration. How do you see the role of impact investing in advancing #healthequity and access in emerging and #frontiermarkets? What are some of the challenges and opportunities that you face or foresee in this domain? What are some of the best practices or lessons learned that you can share with other #investors and #entrepreneurs?
📢 Exciting news alert! 🌟 Thrilled to unveil our latest publication at Baraka Impact Finance!
