🚨 Our Annual Report is here! 📈 Every year we analyze the data we’ve collected to deliver compelling data that quantifies the real difference the CIS WA Network is making in areas like graduation rates, attendance, and social-emotional learning. This also offers a glimpse into the dedicated efforts of our network's educators, community partners, and valued supporters like yourself! Key Highlights: 1. Students Served: The CIS WA network provided direct support to 107,854 students, out of which 6,204 received individualized supports through our dedicated Site Coordinators. 2. Attendance: 78% of the students either met or showed progress towards achieving their attendance goals. 3. Behavior/Social Emotional: A remarkable 91% of participants not only met but also made progress on both their behavior and social-emotional goals. 4. Coursework: A total of 85% of individuals attained or made progress towards their designated coursework goals. 5. Graduation Stats: 80% of seniors are on track to graduate or complete their GED, while 90% of younger students stay in school, setting them up for future success. 6. "The Truman Commission Report lay the groundwork for a massive community college system and a new model for federally funded need-based scholarships. It called for actions to overcome educational inequity and for the first two years of college to be free to all students. Although progress has been made, one cannot overstate how much these recommendations (some quite radical) have shaped U.S. higher education, political platforms, policies, and legislation in the past eight decades. Some of the recommendations were adopted and goals realized. Others were not or, more likely, were unable to achieve their lofty goals or create conditions for their endurance. Check out this new application that my friend and colleague Justin M. Madron and collaborators just released that showcases how policy has shaped segregation and unequal educational opportunity in America. Where are the 100 most segregated school district borders in the U.S. that drive higher poverty rates for students? Check out the #map and statistics in this app. This work builds on the #redlining project Justin worked on while at the University of Richmond and integrates many new data points. "School district boundaries don’t just define the area where a certain group of children attends a given set of schools. They also determine the local taxing jurisdiction that supports those schools. About 30 percent of the average school district’s funding comes from local property taxes, and that figure can be much higher in property-wealthy districts. Big differences in property value can lead to large funding gaps, even between districts that are right next to one another." National Support Public Education Day is the perfect time to explore how we can make a difference! For us, fair and valid assessment is key to empowering schools, teachers and students. Accurate measurement promotes greater equity in education, a central part of our mission. In our recent partnership with @CDE, we developed a new model to measure student growth across California. By using a weighted average, we improved the stability and accuracy of growth scores, reducing disparities across schools and districts. This fairer measure provides more accurate data over shorter periods. With this knowledge, schools and governments can learn from the best and focus efforts where they are needed most to support students effectively. Assessment can power human progress and enhance educational and work outcomes. It’s crucial that organizations and institutions collaborate to support equity and access to quality public education, ensuring that education remains a passport to freedom for all. #NationalSupportPublicEducationDay #Education
