Vote.
Vote because you have a choice.
Vote because you have the constitutional right.
Vote because you have an opinion.
Vote because to maintain a democracy you need to contribute.
Vote to maintain the freedoms that so many fought so hard for.
And for many of those freedoms that have been lost.
Just vote. And for all the excuses you give for not voting, there are 10 more reasons why you should.

To all my network with friends and family within the federal public service:
The Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE) election voting is open until December 13, 2023 (https://lnkd.in/gqdfkvZv).
The future of Canada’s third-largest federal public service union is at stake, now more than ever. There are several candidates running for positions, from President to National Executive Committee Director, who are determined to fundamentally alter the structure and mandate of this union. They aim to shift its focus from member benefits and well-being to a socialist movement advocating for public service strikes and collective disobedience to force the government (and Canadian taxpayers) into serving their interests.
Most of these "Members For Change" lack extensive experience in the public service and have not demonstrated a commitment to serving their fellow CAPE members through volunteer participation on CAPE committees or councils.
While I fully admit to bias in supporting my wife for the CAPE President position, my support is centered on the belief that she is uniquely suited and overwhelmingly qualified for this role.
With nearly 25 years as a federal public servant, 6 years as a volunteer Director on the CAPE National Executive Committee, and experience as President with two large non-profit associations, Kelly Mansfield possesses both the leadership skills and governance acumen to lead CAPE into the future—one built on a mandate for member-centric change, engagement, and professional service.
I trust that CAPE members, like most of us, want to be valued for the work they do, to be fairly compensated, and to be supported in times of need. Unfortunately, the CAPE membership has historically shown apathy when it comes time to vote for their union leadership. Many are unaware that a vote is taking place, and more are unaware of what may be at stake if certain individuals are elected who do not share the predominant values and ethics of the CAPE membership.
These individuals are the same people who continuously undermine the election process by defacing and destroying the campaign materials of other candidates, leaving CAPE members unaware of competing candidate qualities and assets.
So, I implore you to please share the CAPE election news and Kelly Mansfield for ACEP-CAPE President within your network of federal public servants.
The CAPE union leadership represents 25,000 members across Canada, and this election may very well determine if their next collective bargaining process finds them on the picket line without a contract or represented at the negotiating table with a competent leader supporting their interests.
Thank you.
