Full-time workers' rights to ask for a four-day working week could be strengthened under government plans to increase #flexibleworking. Ben Willmott, head of public policy, CIPD said flexible working arrangements such as compressed hours "can help people balance their work and home life commitments, while also supporting employer efforts to recruit and retain staff". The government is reportedly considering raising the minimum pension contribution for employers – is it a good idea? Employers in Australia must currently contribute 11.5 per cent of employees’ salaries to their pension, a figure set to rise to 12 per cent in 2025. In comparison, the total minimum contribution in the UK is 8 per cent, however employers only need to contribute 3 per cent. Our quarterly Labour Market provides analysis on employers' #recruitment, #redundancy and #pay intentions for the next three months. Our latest survey revealed that over a fifth of public sector employers (22%) are looking to decrease staff levels in the next three months.
