I was honored to accept the NextTV Innovation Award 2024 on behalf of the entire Cineverse team. As shared in my acceptance speech: “First of all, thanks to Future plc. and their roster of news publications for acknowledging Cineverse and the spirit of innovation we have achieved with Cineverse Matchpoint As a long time reader, thanks to NextTV for hosting this summit. In addition, thanks to Broadcasting & Cable as well as Multichannel News for covering our journey. Six years ago, we set out to redefine the role of a modern distribution company. We built what we now call Matchpoint. Matchpoint first started out as just an idea, it now powers our entire streaming business and touches every corner of our company. Instead of building a business that is dependent on vendors, we have pivoted and built a company around technology that services the needs of the business. This has allowed us to solve the challenges of operating dozens of streaming services in a rapidly evolving industry that has largely ignored industry standards. While everyone else is still trying to decide which vendor to hire to deliver video from Point A to Point B, we can be nimble, take risks and innovate. Often times being the little guy in an industry comprised of giant media companies can be a competitive advantage. That is the case here. This has allowed us to focus on other areas outside of a traditional home entertainment company. As such, we have successfully pivoted and become a technology company.
