At The Hive Group, we acknowledge Wetlands as vital ecosystems that provide a multitude of ecosystem services to countless species. This year's World Wetlands Day will be commemorated under the theme "Human Well-being," highlighting the interconnectedness of wetlands with human life. In addition to the diverse ecosystem services they offer, it is imperative to recognize the support they provide to wild pollinators, crucial for our food supply. Conversely, the presence of pollinators contributes to the biodiversity of wetland ecosystems and provides ecosystem services beyond pollination. By restoring wetlands, we're not just safeguarding our own well-being; we're also ensuring the survival of these vital pollinators. Let's advocate for wetland conservation and promote sustainable practices that benefit both humans and pollinators alike. Together, we can forge a healthier, more resilient future for all. 🌍💚 #Worldwetlandsday #HumanWellBeing #Pollinators #BeeConservation #sustainability #worldwetlandsday2024 #savethebees

World Bee Day 🐝 Today we celebrate with the United Nations one of the "buzz"iest workers in the animal kingdom: the bee. We all depend on pollinators and it's crucial to monitor their decline and halt the loss of biodiversity. Security Properties Residential has 8 communities offering community gardens and beehives monitored by Alvéole. The following properties have beehives in their community: Argyle Apartments Ballinger Commons Apartment Homes Emerson Apartments Gilman Square Apartments River Ridge Apartments The Noble Apartments Surrey Downs Apartments The Villages at South Station Apartments These communities combined have around 145,500 bees, with a population boom expected at some locations. Some of our communities have around 27,000 bees that in total travel over 33,000 miles a day around a 2-mile radius! On average, one hive can produce 30 pounds of honey per year. In addition to providing residents with honey and a relaxing, enjoyable outdoor activity; these gardens can improve air and soil quality, increase access to nutritious foods, and foster an overall greater sense of community. While we wait for it to be bottled and labelled with love, let’s take a moment to understand why #WorldBeeDay 2024 is so critical: The #UN says: “…we must first grasp bees' significance. They aren't just honey producers. These creatures are primary pollinators, ensuring that our ecosystems are healthy and functional. By doing this, they directly and indirectly support several SDGs, from zero hunger to life on land.” SDGs 2, 3, 6 & 15. #SavetheBees #BeeEngaged + Discover more about #Kyocera’s Bees: https://lnkd.in/ehwyB9NA

Since the 1930s, a staggering 97% of our vibrant, flower-rich meadows have disappeared, depriving essential pollinators like bees and butterflies of their vital food sources. But there's hope, and it lies in the humble lawns of our gardens. A lush, healthy lawn, when allowed to grow longer with wildflowers, becomes a thriving habitat for wildlife, a pollution-fighter, and even a carbon-capturing powerhouse. With over 20 million gardens across the UK, even the smallest grassy patches collectively form a substantial portion of our land area. If managed thoughtfully, these spaces can deliver immense benefits for nature, communities, and the climate. This is why Plantlife International encourages everyone to participate in #NoMowMay each year, giving wild plants a head start for the summer season. The best part? To reap these rewards, all you need to do is let your lawn grow freely in May and beyond! By embracing a more natural approach to lawn care, we can turn our gardens into vibrant, biodiverse sanctuaries that support pollinators, improve air quality, and contribute to a healthier planet. So, let the wildflowers bloom, and watch as your little piece of the earth transforms into a verdant oasis for all. Full details here: https://lnkd.in/e_RkHtsj
