As we mark International Overdose Awareness Day, let's come together in support, solidarity, and hope for a brighter future. ChristianaCare has partnered with New Castle County to create the Community Substance Overdose Support (SOS) Program to help people in our community who are struggling with addiction. It offers people hope and support when they need it the most. Community SOS engagement specialists will connect with individuals in their homes or within their communities to discuss how they can help support their recovery. Students from the Red Clay Consolidated School District Early Years Program in Wilmington, DE are starting the school year off right with new school supplies thanks to ChristianaCare's Off Shift Support Council. 14 boxes of school supplies and 26 backpacks were collected by our caregivers to donate to the program for their community service project. Teachers and students were very appreciative of the generosity of our caregivers during the #backtoschool season. We proudly serve our community with #excellence and #love. #netDE

Hot diggity dog! Despite the hot weather, our furry friends from PAWS for People stayed cool as they visited our caregivers at the PAWS to De-Stress event, hosted by the ChristianaCare Center for WorkLife Wellbeing for WorkLife Wellbeing at our Christiana Hospital campus in Newark, DE. There were lots of kisses and snuggles to go around today! For reducing environmental impact of medical waste through innovative health care practices, ChristianaCare has been recognized with an Environmental Excellence Gold Award from the medical technology company Stryker. The award spotlights ChristianaCare for outstanding achievements in sustainability in 2023 based on key metrics including waste diversion, collections growth and buyback percentage. In 2023, ChristianaCare’s sustainability initiatives resulted in the diversion of 6,722 pounds of medical waste from landfills and generated savings amounting to $1,158,658.
