Thank you for celebrating #WomensHistoryMonth with us! Our last highlight is Lauren Simpson, Associate Principal Battery Engineer: Q: What has been one of your proudest career accomplishments? A: Supporting our partnership with VW was one of my proudest career accomplishments. The technical puzzles we sought to solve required persistence, critical thinking, and creativity. During the project, I was given opportunities to present my findings to a team of our partners at VW — including Luna Sanchez, a strong (female) leader in the energy storage space. Working adjacent to Luna and watching her assert herself with confidence was an empowering experience I won’t forget. Female leadership is sorely lacking in our field, and this experience emboldened me to dream bigger. Q: What motivates you most about your work? A: I love thinking critically, collecting questions, and making meaning out of complex datasets. Working to enable a technology that has the potential to positively impact the world by solving complicated puzzles is a pretty sweet gig. Q: What's something you're passionate about outside of your work that might surprise people? A: I love spending time outdoors. The solutions to many difficult problems exist in nature. Leaving the lab to bask in the chaos of the natural world is key to solving the most complex puzzles.
