During this Labor day holidays, I decided to stay home and read "Hunter Killers" to make my mind #sharper by reading an #inspiring book. It is written by Dan Hampton. He is a well known author by his bestselling book, "#ViperPilot". The book, #HunterKillers, explains a story how the USAF develop and improve their capabilities in the Electromagnetic (#EM) field against the Soviet/North Vietnamese Surface to Air Missiles (SAM). During the Vietnam war, SA-2s were one of major threats to the US. The SAMs were very effective weapons to kill US jets and to force USAF's flight packages to jettison their weapons before they attacked their targets. USAF lost lots of jets against SAMs and AAAs. The US created a small cadre of people to counter the SAM threats and develop/test ECM pod and more advanced Anti-Radiation Missiles (#ARM), AGM-78. It is an inspiring story to build their capabilities in a short period time from the limited information.

Another Russian failure. Defense Blog reports that the head of the Russian defense conglomerate Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, confirmed that the state-of-the-art Russian tank, the T-14 “Armata,” is not being deployed in the war in Ukraine, which the Kremlin has labeled a “special military operation.” Chemezov attributed this decision to the tank’s exorbitant cost, indicating that the military is opting for the more economical T-90 tanks instead. He underscored the prohibitive expense of the Armata as a deterrent to its immediate deployment, stressing the need for funds to develop newer and more cost-effective tank models. As you all have heard, Jake DeEscalator Sullivan has unlocked another achievement: Iran has transferred ballistic missiles to Russia. According to the U.S. Department of Defense (1), they are short-range Fath-360 missiles: the range is up to 120 km, and the accuracy, according to Western experts, is low. But I doubt that the Ukrainians who will die under their shelling will care about that. In addition, the Pentagon noted that "dozens" of Russian military personnel have been trained in Iran to use these missiles. Given these factors, the immediate threat these missiles pose is to frontline cities - Khariv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia. 1 https://lnkd.in/dNDarSGy

It's a timeless argument: quantity versus quality. "The U.S. military has long privileged quality over quantity. This has produced a military with the skills and equipment to exploit offensive opportunities when they present themselves, as they did in Kuwait in 1991 and may do again in the future. But if the conditions are not right and attrition warfare results, today’s U.S. military is not built to sustain the losses this could produce." The key is to find the right balance that produces the desired outcome relatively quickly without getting mired into an attritional fight. That's why something like the Weinberger-Powell was so important. It proved useful as a reminder of what kind of a fight you were preparing for and forced you to answer some hard questions up front. Because, as we so often say, the enemy gets a vote. And if they vote to dig in, we have to possess the will (and depth) to do the same.

Russian Hypersonic Missiles For today’s article, I will discuss the Russian hypersonic missile systems of Kinzhal and Zircon, which they have discussed for over a decade since the Russian Federation’s military first implemented this technology. Many fears about these missile systems are that the American Patriot missile defence system and other more conventional missile defence systems won’t be effective against Russian supersonic weaponry. I may say that the Russian propaganda machine, concerning their very own supersonic technology, is incredibly overstated. Please remember that the Russian higher education and technology education system has been broken since the 1980s. https://lnkd.in/ev3N6m_B

Analysis: U.S. Military's Weapon System Development in Taiwan Straits War Games The speaker discusses the slow pace of the U.S. system in building high-end weapon systems, highlighting the years it takes to develop them. They mention concerns about running out of long-range anti-ship missiles in war games around the Taiwan Straits. This raises issues about the readiness and capabilities of the U.S. military in potential conflicts. The need for improved efficiency and preparedness in developing and deploying weapons systems is emphasized in order to address these gaps in defense capabilities. #News #CNN #USMilitary #WeaponSystems #TaiwanStraits #AntiShipMissiles #China #SouthChinaSea #Philippines #InternationalRelations #vizard

The U.S. Department of Defense/Air Force must acknowledge that China's activities (military, quasi-military & developmental) are spread throughout the IndoPacific Rim, from East Africa to South, Southeast & East Asia, North, Central & South America, and throughout Oceania. China's activities are primarily Maritime based. The actual use of Bombers & Missiles as an execution of "Real Politik" Hard Power upon Mainland Asia will be unsustainable and create more irretrievable havoc than can be imagined. Check out this article to learn more about where the US might station its B-21 Bombers to deter China. Source: https://lnkd.in/gyFnvvF4

#MondayEductionMoment: As close watchers of the interplay between international trade, domestic industrial base policy, and both strategic military and socioeconomic deterrence, we encourage more level-headed discussions like this.
After years of optimizing the US military to stop an invasion of Taiwan, defense officials have rendered the force too expensive to grow and too small to meet our needs. Mike Pompeo and I offer an approach to hedge against the worst-case scenarios China could impose. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e_jxjew8
