Among these essential programs are our Community Reentry Support Centers, which provide vital support and resources to individuals navigating the challenges of reintegration. With approximately 11,000 individuals reentering the city of Chicago every year, the significance of our work cannot be overstated. 55% of young people say that they have poor family support when they first seek our help. Our Safe and Connected Futures (SCF) Program is one of the ways that we work with young people to improve their family situation. SCF aims to strengthen the relationship between young people and their chosen family members or important adults in their life to help them remain safely housed and supported. Ultimately, the goal of SCF is to support young people and family members to improve their relationships, so they can continue to live together or live independently from each other in a supportive and caring way. After help from BYS through programs such as SCF, the number of young people who say that they have positive family support increases by 78% (2022-23 data). #BrisYouth #NewFutures

The application period for the Fall 2024 Hope For The Warriors Military Spouse and Caregiver Scholarships is now open! 🗣 Military spouses, caregivers, and Gold Star spouses are encouraged to apply for a scholarship that will provide them with the opportunity to pursue post-secondary higher education, assisting them in maintaining the financial well-being of their families. Eligibility is based on a spouse or caregiver’s ability to show their post-9/11 service member or veteran sustained a combat-related injury and/or has a 100% permanent and total VA disability rating to include Individual Unemployability. The Hope For The Warriors Scholarship Program considers a combat-related injury to be an injury caused by armed conflict, hazardous duty, instrumentality of war, and simulated war. Scholarship awards are made payable to the recipient’s institution for payment of tuition, books and supplies. The scholarship is for U.S. colleges and universities only. Scholarships Offered: 📚 Honorary Scholarship – Awarded to those seeking a graduate or postgraduate degree. 📚 New Beginnings Scholarship – Awarded to those pursuing an associate's degree, certificate, or entry-level classes. 📚 Restoring Family Scholarship – Awarded to Spouses of the Fallen. 📚 Restoring Hope Scholarship – Awarded to students pursuing a master's degree or doctorate in Social Work, Counseling, or a mental health-related field. 📚 Restoring Self Scholarship – Awarded to those seeking a bachelor's degree. SCI proudly partnered with The Policy Institute in King's College London (KCL) to support the roll out of the 7th wave of globally respected World Values Survey (WVS) in Northern Ireland. 📊 The WVS, a globally respected initiative, offers valuable insights into evolving social values and trends over time, shedding light on critical issues like polarisation and confidence in governmental and institutional bodies. 💡 Our collaboration resulted on significant findings, challenging preconceived notions and revealing notable shifts in societal attitudes in Northern Ireland. The findings point to a considerable decline in people’s trust in government, politicians and the media which reflect trends globally. However, people have a high degree of trust in NGOs. 🤝 Supporting communities to leverage high-quality data for informed decision-making has been central to our partnership with WVS and KCL. This commemoration stands as a reminder of the pivotal role that civic education and active citizenship play in safeguarding democracy against tyranny. As we reflect on the events that unfolded at EDSA in 1986, it becomes clear that an informed and engaged citizenry is the bedrock of a resilient democratic society. We in the FEU Public Policy Center (FPPC) recognize the enduring significance of fostering civic education initiatives that empower individuals with the knowledge and skills to actively participate in the democratic process — to ensure that policies and programs are centered on the people and that public officials are held accountable for their actions.
