Practice makes permanent and not perfect. That is why when you are learning a new skill (educational entrepreneur) it it’s important that you have someone guiding you during the acquisition stage of learning: A student’s performance at the acquisition stage is characterized by low accuracy and subsequent dysfluency. Appropriate interventions within this phase include modeling, guided practice, frequent feedback, and activities designed to increase the salience of the correct discrimination to be learned. That is why continued practice doing something incorrectly will not only leave you further from your goal but also extremely discouraged. If you’re starting your practicum this fall and you know you’re interested in private practice, here’s what I wish someone had told me. 1. Get as many supervision hours as possible. If you can, get more than what’s required by CRPO. Paying for supervision afterwards is expensive. There’ll be a lot of startup costs associated with running a business, and it can easily get overwhelming. Get them for free while you can. 2. Be open-minded with the presenting issues. This is your opportunity to learn, and to see what type of client you like to work with. It will also help you identify your niche/ideal client, which will be beneficial for your Psychology Today profile. 3. Pay attention to the words that clients use to describe their issue. What I’ve found turns a phone consultation to a paid client is when they feel seen and understood. They are less likely to say they have “life stressors”. You’re more likely to hear: “I’m crying all the time and I don’t know why.” For questions about private practice, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Just to give you a glimpse into the Power of Family meeting once a month, I realised, 22 business lines is what my family is into. 7 of our Home- Makers are into home commerce (mini business from home).
