Horseshoe Crabs: Time Travellers in the Seas 🌊🦀.
Greetings from a trip through prehistory! 🌊🦀 The scientific name for horseshoe crabs is Limulus polyphemus, and they are real time travellers. A few amazing facts about these marine animals are as follows:
🔍 Swimming Inverted: Visualise these crustaceans swimming across the water inverted, resembling aquatic acrobats.
They are considerably more intriguing and mysterious because of this quirk.
🌏 200 Million Years and Counting: The title is accurate! The history of horseshoe crabs spans 200 million years.
🦀 🦎 They saw dinosaurs come and go, gracefully enduring many geological periods.
🦠 Unchangeable Body Form:
🦀 Your body functions as a time capsule. Its structure hasn't changed much in millions of years.
🦀 Their sword-shaped tail and helmet-like carapace serve as emblems of their ancestral lineage's legitimacy.

A new Cavago host in South Africa shared this amazing picture today.
So, obviously, my first question was...
Is a zebra a horse?
A quick Google search, fueled by embarrassment, revealed the answer:
Zebras are no more horses than donkeys are.
I took the bait and went down the rabbit hole.
These 5 facts about zebras that could make you a more interesting manager.
Steal these.
1. Although zebras, horses, and donkeys are related. The zebra is more closely related to the donkey than the horse. Nuts.
2. All descended from the same ancestor, the Eohippus. This 5-toed, fox-like creature roamed Earth's jungles around 52 million years ago. Bonkers.
3. There are 3 main types or species of zebra, and they all have their subspecies. What?
4. Horses have 64 chromosomes. Zebras between 32 and 46, depending on the species. Hu?
5. Zebras can be ridden like horses. This poses the question of whether Cavago should offer zebra experiences or solely focus on horse experiences. Focus group time? If you feel strongly about this one way or another, leave a comment below 👇
Let me know if you become a more interesting manager now that you can act on these newfound knowledge nuggets.

A snow leopard's life is often spent in the mountains. Carefully bounding from boulder to boulder to hunt prey like ibex, it must land each step right. Luckily, this #SelfieSundaySpecies is uniquely adapted to its ecosystem — snow leopards use their long tails, which can often exceed 80 percent of the cat's body length, for balance on the slippery, rocky slopes.

::The Holy Beast of Gilgit Baltistan::
During medieval times in Gilgit Baltistan region, snow leopard was regarded as one of the most sacred and holy animals of Gilgit Baltistan. On the stratification of holiness snow leopard( Dee in Shina and Brushaski and singay in Balti) was on the top among all holy animals, next to snow Leopard was ibex(Keel) it used to assume the second number in purity and holiness and markhor (Bom) was in third number in the rank of holiness, next was the ladakh Udiyal(Oreen).
Particularly, the male snow leopard was considered on top in the hierarchy of purity and holiness. Generally, there was a mythical belief of Gilgit Baltistan about male snow leopard that this animal (snow leopard) was so holy and was considered too pure to have sexual contact with the female leopard.. According to the medieval beliefs of G.B particularly in Dimer and adjacent areas It was the common belief about female leopard that she descend to the bank of the river in order to mate and get pregnant with the male Otter( Ozzo in shina)and not with the male snow leopard, because it was too pure and holy to perform such a unholy and dirty deed. This mythical story about snow leopard was also prevalent in other Shina speaking areas as well. Basically, this story illustrates the theme that purity needs a partner from the lower and demonic sphere to become fully fertile..moreover, snow leopard was regarded as the Alpha hunter(the biggest hunter)and sacred by the leading hunter communities of Gilgit Baltistan.

Legends gallop to life as colossal horses stride through realms, their majestic presence weaving tales of strength, grace, and the boundless magic that unites them with the tapestry of ancient lore.
Giant horses often find their place in various myths, legends, and folklore across different cultures. These magnificent creatures are typically portrayed as larger-than-life equines, possessing extraordinary strength, agility, and sometimes even magical qualities. While specific details vary, giant horses are commonly associated with heroic deeds, divine connections, or mystical realms.
In some cultures, giant horses are mythical steeds ridden by gods, heroes, or legendary figures. These horses are often said to possess the ability to traverse vast distances effortlessly, carrying their riders to places unreachable by ordinary means. The bond between the rider and the giant horse is usually symbolic of a powerful connection between humanity and the divine.
In other traditions, giant horses are guardians of sacred lands, entrusted with the protection of enchanted realms or hidden treasures. Their colossal stature serves as a deterrent to those who may seek to trespass or disturb the balance of these mystical domains.
The lore surrounding giant horses can also include tales of their involvement in epic battles, where their immense size and strength play a crucial role in turning the tide of conflicts. Some stories depict these horses as allies to heroes, charging fearlessly into battle, while others cast them as celestial beings who intervene in times of great need.

In the eye of the beholder
Shark vision is another one of those misunderstood topics.
While I can’t address the vision of all species of sharks in one post let’s review a few facts:
1. Shark’s eyes function like human eyes and can expand and contract due to lack or presence of light
2. They have night vision thanks to a coating at the back of the eye called Tapetum Lucidum (shining carpet)
3. Having good vision doesn’t help in bad visibility, so yes, dusk, dawn, murky water and other factors affecting visibility also affect the sharks swimming in those area
4. Some sharks can see a few shades of colors; depending on where they live some species have cone cells in their eyes
5. Depending on the position of the eyes on the head, some deal with a bigger or smaller blind spot in front of their head
Ultimately, one size does not fit all and we need to learn and appreciate each one for their special characteristics.

Unveiling the Art of Snow Leopard Camouflage: 🐾❄️
Did you know that snow leopards, the elusive mountain dwellers, possess an extraordinary ability to blend seamlessly with their surroundings? Here are fascinating facts about their camouflage:
1️⃣ Majestic Spots:
Snow leopards boast a stunning coat adorned with rosette-shaped spots, perfectly suited for blending into rocky and snowy terrains.
2️⃣ Adaptation to Altitude:
Their fur, thick and dense, not only provides insulation against the cold but also aids in concealment amidst snow-covered landscapes.
3️⃣ Natural Camouflage:
The combination of grey and white tones in their fur mimics the shades of their mountainous habitat, allowing them to become nearly invisible to prey and predators alike.
4️⃣ Stealthy Stalkers:
The unique markings on their fur break the outline of their body, making it challenging for prey to detect them as they patiently stalk their target.
5️⃣ High-Altitude Hide-and-Seek:
Snow leopards often use rock formations and elevated vantage points to ambush their prey, leveraging their exceptional camouflage skills.
Embracing the marvel of snow leopard camouflage, nature once again showcases its brilliance in equipping these magnificent creatures for survival in the harsh, snow-clad landscapes. 🏔️✨ #SnowLeopard#CamouflageWonders#WildlifeWednesday
