How can we make community gardens more inclusive? Here are some ideas!
• Clear communication: Use plain language or translated materials, so everyone in your community knows about the garden.
• Display your values: Share your garden’s commitment to respect, diversity and inclusion.
• Plan space for connection: add picnic tables, benches or chairs for resting, socializing and enjoying the garden together.
• Grow new gardeners: Knowledge shouldn’t be a barrier. Host workshops or start a mentorship program to help new gardeners blossom!
• Think affordability: Starting gardens can be expensive. Think of creative ways to cut costs, like seed/tool libraries.
