Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College is a national leader in nursing education. Our strategists, copywriters and in-house photographer worked closely with their nursing school throughout the year to capture stories that showcase WHY. Then, our designers compiled this information into Goldfarb Magazine, an annual recap sent to alumni, students, donors and other community members. Learn more about how our multidisciplinary team collaborated with the nursing school to beautifully communicate its achievements and strategic initiatives to students, alumni and donors: https://lnkd.in/gfag83AF

Nursing is such an integral part of health and wellness, but it sure isn’t easy. To care for others, we have to first take care of ourselves. I am proud to share this ad published Nov 21, 1925 in the Saturday Evening Post by Johnson & Johnson. It has hung in my office in a prominent spot for many years and while the photo and some of the language is clearly dated, the underlying message is timeless. Here is what it says: “Confidence in the graduate nurse is well-founded. Trained to meet the high standards of modern practice, her work is an essential supplement to the skill of physician or surgeon, in increasing the chances of recovery and decreasing the period of illness. Wherever she exercised her profession - in homes or hospitals, or in the vital work of health conservation or community welfare - her service is a boon to humanity and an asset to civilization. Where she is, there too, may rightly be a greater confidence. “ In other words…for healthcare to work it takes nurses. A heartfelt thank you too ALL nurses for your extraordinary impact in healthcare. While my time with J&J has come to a close, I will ALWAYS be a passionate advocate for and ally to the nursing profession! 🤗🤗

Due to a slow uptake for our forthcoming webinars on Critical Thinking in Safeguarding Children, Kirsty Knivett MODA / MSc Social Work / MA Arts / BA (Hons) and I have done some critical reflection and are changing our approach to the delivery. We acknowledge that outside of our professional circles, not many people know who we are, and we recognise time is a precious commodity for everyone. We are still committed to getting the message out and encourage discussions on the topics. Therefore, we are going to run the first session on 30th October as a free taster session to anyone who wants to attend, if they like and repost this post. We'll reduce the length of time for each webinar to 2 hours, and deliver the 2024/25 webinars as a pilot programme. Each topic and webinar will standalone, not as a series. We will offer a limited number of £10 per webinar student places for students on relevant courses (i.e. social work, nursing, teaching). We will be offering each webinar to other participants at 50% off, so only £25 per webinar!
