I have always found it pretty wonderful that my daughter, Emily, can tell me the species of many birds simply by hearing their call. She learnt this skill from her grandfather. After their long walks together in the Aussie bush she always comes back so peaceful and content. As I read into the psychology of birdwatching, particularly ‘mindful birding’, I understand why! Every human mind is infused with equanimity, but most of the time, we don't know how to access it.   Equanimity is a natural quality of our awareness. As we practice equanimity and learn to let go of our reactivity, our habitual attempts to control what we don’t, and as we learn to rest into our experience, we discover the natural stability, presence and clarity of our mind. We discover an ability to go through life with ease, not being carried away by it’s ups and downs.   A week ago, I gave a talk called "Discovering Natural Equanimity" during our restinflow.com community monthly gathering. During the talk we look at what equanimity is and isn't, how to discover this wonderful natural quality of our awareness, common hindrances that cover equanimity (especially our stress around uncertainty) and how to practice in daily life to experience more moments of equanimity. Industry Players who are Dog Lovers To illustrate this post, on the effect that growing up with dogs has on Industry Players, I used the front cover of the book titled “Growing Up Together” (meaning, together with a dog) by Yoanna Green, a paperback edition of which can be bought for $6.99 through Amazon ( https://lnkd.in/dzSybHGF ). Very occasionally - when the mood gets me - I mix (blend) "business" (Health Tourism) with "social"- to demonstrate that, contrary to general belief, there is, also, a social side to me. My reference to dogs (on LinkedIn) started on one International Dog Day (August 26th), when I exchanged comments with some serious industry players - who happen to also, be dog lovers. This exchange got me to consider dogs in the context of my family. If I only limit things from the time we have had children (two boys – now grownups) - we have had one or two dogs as part of the family. And if I only limit things to the effect on my children, of growing up with dogs. The conclusion I arrived at is that children who grow up with dogs become good people.
