A quick reframe that helped when I was new to sales. My old idea of sales was very negative: • Pushy cold calls • Boiler room tactics • Convincing people to buy Just things I wanted to avoid at all costs... But I sat down with a mentor. He gave me this reframe that completely changed my idea of sales: "Connor, sales is not about convincing people to buy. It's about discovering the truth and empowering someone to make the best decision for themself." This reframe felt right and unsurprisingly helped me close more deals. What's the best sales tip you ever got? Years ago, I struggled with sales. I read books and took courses, but nothing clicked. I felt frustrated and overwhelmed. One day, a mentor asked me, "Have you practiced enough?” I realized I spent more time learning than applying. I started practicing daily, even just for a few minutes. I role-played sales calls with friends, pitched to family, and even practiced in front of the mirror. At first, I made mistakes. Lots of them. But slowly, I got better. My pitches became smoother, my confidence grew, and closing deals became easier. The key insight? It takes years to learn sales skills, but only minutes to apply them. Consistent practice makes all the difference. So, what's your best sales tip?

5 lessons which i learnt by doing sales 1. Prospecting is like going to the gym. - You have to show up every day to see results. - Once you stop, your prospecting muscle weakens. - Results compound over time. Never break your streak. 2. Systems beat motivation. - Sales isn't a ton of fun most of the time. Motivation comes and goes. It's unreliable. - You must put systems in place to operate on autopilot. 3. Problems over products. All products are the same on paper: commodities. Competitive deals aren't won with features. They are won through business advisory. 4. Long term focus wins. - Short term tactics (e.g. discounting) always backfire. - Never let EOQ or EOY jeopardise your integrity. - Always put customer success over your own. 5. Be a snail. - Slow down. Do less. - Focus on 1 customer at a time. - Transform 1 life, 1 business at a time. These 5 lessons taught me and gave an output And they will be good guides for the next 5 years !

16 years ago before I started my career in sales I was under the impression that closing meant getting your prospects to say “Yes”.⁠ ⁠ That made me uncomfortable because no matter how passionate I was about a product or service I knew there were going to be circumstances where “yes” would not be the right answer.⁠ ⁠ Luckily, @SouthwesternAdvantage helped me realize I had the wrong impression around closing. In 2006 they taught me that closing is the service of bringing someone to a decision.⁠ ⁠ Now if you rolled your eyes after reading, “closing is a service”, then you’re forgetting what it feels like to be lost in the abyss of indecision.⁠ ⁠ Closing is not the act of bringing someone to a specific decision, it’s simply the act of bringing someone to a decision. The reason that’s a service is because decisions lead to action and action leads to progress.⁠ ⁠ So for the next few posts, I’m going to share my favorite strategies on how to help bring your prospects to a decision.⁠ ⁠ I’m not going to teach you the Benjamin Franklin Close, the PPP close, the Boomerang or any other style of closing. There’s nothing wrong studying styles of closing (I recommend it!) but I do know that if you don’t know how to develop a need you have no business asking for someone’s business or asking them to make a decision on whether or not they’d like to work with you.⁠ ⁠ It’s also worth reminding that the process of bringing someone to a decision (AKA closing) is a PROCESS, not an event.⁠ ⁠ Closing begins MUCH earlier than the moment you ask your prospect to move forward. Those processes, not just the words you use, are what I’m going to teach you.
