College Athlete, UCLA Quarterback| National NIL Athlete of the Year (2X) |Toigo Fellow|Brand Ambassador|Investor. Talks about college athlete empowerment, investing, generational wealth-building & public service.
🚨 When I launched The Athlete's Bureau (TAB), last November, the goal was to work with award-winning student journalists and market leading pollsters to amplify authentic college athlete points of view on the business of college sports. This journey led us to every decision-making forum impacting the future of college athletics. Last week the NCAA and Conferences agreed to a multi-billion dollar settlement of the major antitrust class action cases filed against them and will usher in a new revenue-sharing model that finally delivers college athletes a fair share of the billions of dollars in annual revenue we create. The credit for this outcome belongs to the courageous athlete lead plaintiffs, powerhouse attorneys, indefatigable athlete advocates, state AGs, fair-minded judges and policy-makers, and the NCAA's President and a select group of forward-thinking college conference commissioners and ADs. We expect to formally endorse this settlement when it is approved by the court in the coming months, but in the meantime, here is our TAB analysis of the reported settlement and reasons why we believe college athletes will benefit from it and support it en masse. as per usual, Chase Griffin, excellent work and advocacy. congrats and I very much look forward to seeing your continued journey.
Can't stop, won't stop! You're a force Chase Griffin! Congratulations!
You are missing one big element of the ruling....there are now imposed roster limits and most are a reduction for power 5 schools. Even Football is being cut from 120 to 105. Womens XC is being slashed over 50% at most universities. Beach volleyball for women being cut, baseball being cut, swimming being cut. These "increased" scholarships are actually Roster Caps -- not sure why that had to be imposed as these bigger universities have been known to have developmental programs. Not to mention the universities don't actually have to fund the programs/scholarships. So great that women's xc can offer 17 scholarships, but the university might fund 5 and those 5 can still be spread across 10 leaving 7 without any $. So this is a farce and is destroying many programs.
good stuff!
Wow!
