I read this recently and thought how perfect this is for the role I’m in. The product I have is a nice beautiful building for someone to live in. The problems we solve in senior living can change the trajectory of someone’s outcomes. It’s what’s inside the walls of the building that counts….. people serving people like family. We bring hope to others. We bring peace of mind. We bring safety. We bring healthcare solutions. We bring community. We bring a sense of belonging. We bring activity. We bring confidence to those who have lost it. Such a powerful statement to remember! It’s the PROMISE we get to make to SOLVE the problems someone may or may not know they have! The issue of violence in home healthcare will likely increase as the industry is projected to grow dramatically in the coming years” (“Workplace Violence in Home Healthcare: Strategies for Keeping Caregivers Safe,” CDC, 2021). In response to this growing concern, we recognize that preparedness begins with prevention! That's why last April ( 2023 ), we collaborated with a community expert to host a “Workplace Violence Prevention for Home Care Professionals Webinar!” During the session, attendees learned about: ◾the impact of implementing de-escalation as a strategy to prevent potential violence in the workplace ◾ the importance of crafting policies and procedures that promote a culture of safety ◾ the benefits of providing comprehensive employee workplace training on workplace violence preparedness ◾ the value of investing in tools and technologies that support employee safety.
