Google has entered the chat ... with 2 cloud-based AI systems (1st - TB detection and 2nd - other abnormality detection) to process CXRs. Their paper in NEJM AI showed non-inferiority to radiologists for active pulmonary TB triaging in an underserved area. Neither the TB AI nor the radiologists met WHO recommendations for sensitivity in the study population. The software runs in one minute. It is interesting (and nice) to see pulmonary AI products being rolled out in use cases that are not related to oncology. Other conditions and patients deserve their attention too.
