Organising a fundraising gala dinner? Here's a crucial tip... Always have MORE volunteers and payment terminals than you think you need 👫💳 When hosting a charity event, every moment counts. With a packed schedule and numerous fundraising activities planned, the last thing you want is a bottleneck at the payment stage. Here’s why: 1. **Efficiency is Key**: Guests are there to support your cause, not to wait in line. Having enough volunteers ensures smooth operations, from registration to auctions and raffles. 2. **Seamless Transactions**: Multiple payment terminals reduce wait times, allowing donors to quickly contribute and enjoy the evening. This convenience encourages more spontaneous giving. 3. **Enhanced Experience**: A well-organised event with attentive volunteers and efficient payment processes leaves a positive impression. Happy guests are more likely to donate generously and attend future events. 4. **Maximized Donations**: Every delay is a missed opportunity. Under-preparing can lead to frustrated guests and lost donations. Ensuring a swift donation process means more funds for your cause. Imagine this: A guest is ready to make a significant donation but faces a long queue at the payment terminal. The moment passes, and so does the donation. This scenario is all too common and can be avoided with proper planning. 💡 **Tip**: Conduct a volunteer training session and test all payment terminals before the event. Anticipate peak times and allocate resources accordingly. Remember, preparation is not just about logistics—it's about creating an environment where generosity can thrive. Let's make every moment count! 💪✨ #Fundraising #CharityEvent #GalaDinner #EventPlanning #NonprofitSuccess #fundraisingtips #charityball

When it comes to individual giving, my interest and experience lie very much in getting lots of people to donate small amounts of money - rather than working with a few people donating larger amounts. I donate small amounts to charities myself - because I truly believe in that sentence we all put on our appeals: that “every donation, no matter how small, makes a huge difference” So I know from experience that donating is a really powerful way to engage with the causes we care about - and I always feel frustrated when I speak to charities who don’t want to run donation schemes “because our audiences can’t give”. I found that sentence usually says a lot more about those organisations' prejudices about the people they work with than it says about the people in their communities - and I’ve always found it slightly patronising and discriminatory. So I got really excited listening to this great webinar from the Bath Women's Fund: https://lnkd.in/eFwKT6UJ Giving Circles are really well established in the US, but there are only 35 in the UK. Members come together to pool their (typically smaller) donations and decide together where the money goes. They also have a social and learning element to them - and are a perfect example of why giving is such a brilliant way to engage with a cause, and why “every donation, no matter how small, truly matters” I’d really recommend listening to the webinar - and getting involved if you can. And if you haven’t got a giving circle near you, or the time and energy to set up one - maybe just make a small donation to a charity you like -it’ll be the best fiver you’ll have ever spent! #donations #Nonprofits #NonprofitFundraising #NonprofitImpact #CharityFundraising #CharityFundraiser #CharitySector #CharitySupport #CharityWork #Charity #Fundraising #FundraisingTips #LoveFunding

In the last month, we've seen some fascinating stats on the Charity Digital Benchmark. Average sessions are generally down more than 20% as people spend more time prepping (and enjoying!) the festivities. However, we've seen some interesting stats that suggest whilst traffic is lower, that traffic may be better for your charity Here's why; ⬆ Average pages per session is up month on month by 11% ⬆ Engagement time is up month on month by 6% ⬆ New user percent in the last week is up by 5% on average From our experience, we think this suggests; 🌪 Visitors in this period are more interested and thus further down the 'funnel' 🏃♂️ Traffic is harder to come by, but that traffic is worth chasing 🆕 Acquisition closer to Christmas is easier, as people wind down and are impacted by increased charity messaging What are you seeing in your data? Would you agree? #digitalbenchmark #digitalcampaigns #christmasads #christmasmarketing #charity #fundraising

👉 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴… … Your website. A branding project for your nonprofit/charity organisation can seem overwhelming. But you don't have to take it on all at once. You can do it in stages. A great place to start is your website. Data insights from http://BetterNow.org show that charities with a branded website receive 12% more donations than charities that don't. Why? Because fundraising initiatives hosted on a charity's own website increases trust among donors compared to a third party platform. It does so, because it is on the charity's own domain with their branding. If you're thinking about giving your charity a brand identity or rebranding, start with your website. 📌 P.S. Selling raffle tickets at a charity gala dinner? Here’s a tip that can make a huge difference: 🎟️ Sell in multiples, not singles! Here’s why: 1️⃣ **Encourage Bigger Purchases:** When you sell raffle tickets in multiples—like 5, 10, or even 20 at a time—you naturally encourage guests to think bigger. Instead of just buying one ticket, they’re more likely to grab a bundle, which instantly boosts your fundraising total. 2️⃣ **Create a Ripple Effect:** Here’s where it gets really interesting. When one guest at a table buys 10 tickets, it sets the tone for everyone else. Suddenly, others at the table feel the need to keep up, leading to a friendly competition that results in more tickets sold across the room. 💪 3️⃣ **Maximise Impact:** Selling tickets in multiples not only raises more funds but also adds a layer of excitement to the event. Guests feel more invested in the outcome, and the buzz around the raffle helps to keep the energy high all night. By encouraging guests to buy in bulk, you’re setting the stage for a successful raffle and ensuring that your charity gets the support it deserves. Let’s make every ticket count! 🎉 #CharityFundraising #RaffleTickets #fundraising #GalaDinner #FundraisingTips #auctioneer

When it comes to charity fundraisers, there’s one game that always brings the energy up and gets everyone involved 'Heads or Tails'! 🎉Here's why I think it's the perfect game for any fundraising event: 1️⃣ **Quick to Play:** Time is precious at a fundraiser, and 'Heads or Tails' only takes a few minutes. It’s the perfect way to inject some fun without taking too much time away from the main event. 2️⃣ **Easy to Play:** No complicated rules here! Just choose heads or tails, stand or sit, and see if luck is on your side. It’s simple enough that everyone can join in, no matter their age or experience. 3️⃣ **Encourages Participation:** The best part? If just a couple of people at a table stand up to play, it creates a ripple effect. Suddenly, the whole table—and often the entire room—is in the game. The excitement builds, and before you know it, everyone’s on their feet, laughing and having a great time. - Early Fundraising Boost: One of the best things about 'Heads or Tails' is that it’s an easy way to collect a small donation from every guest right at the start of the event. It’s a fun, low-pressure way to get everyone contributing from the get-go. 💰 ‘Heads or Tails’ isn’t just a game; it’s a way to break the ice, boost engagement, and raise more funds for a great cause. Next time you’re planning a fundraiser, don’t forget to add it to the lineup! 🪙 #Fundraising #HeadsOrTails #Auctioneer #EngageYourAudience #FundraisingFun #emcee

You’re asking people to support a cause, not a charity 💡 This week I’ve been working with a fantastic London-based charity to workshop their new website and the objectives that drive it. One of the key points that has come up so far is the need to emotionally engage users in the cause you’re asking them to support. All too often charities are getting caught up in their own messaging and asking people to support ‘their work’. This is far less compelling than the higher purpose and objective that the organisation normally serves. So, focus on your higher purpose and engage your audience in the mission. This goes for all businesses, not just charities. #charityfundraising #webdevelopment #strategicmarketing #charitysector #higherpurpose

Helping charities increase their income through high value fundraising |Interim manager, consultant, trainer |Trustee |Member of Chartered Institute of Fundraising |UK wide |Contract |Interim |Permanent
Its good to see that the mass charity events specialist massive (ltd) have just released their annual survey of charity mass participation events for 2024, and lists the top 25 events. This will certainly help me with planning mass fundraising events (albeit on a much smaller scale!) for late 2024 and 2025 for those charities that I am currently working with. Fellow fundraisers, events specialists and directors of fundraising, will want to read the report, too. Top take-aways for me: - In 2023, the top 25 raised £132m, representing a 16% increase on income in 2022. Many inperson events are now back to pre Covid pandemic levels. - The cost of living presents challenges with fundraising income, but the volume of participants taking part continues to grow. Average fundraising values are creeping back up. - The appetite for mass participation events is not waning. Do take a look! #fundraisingevents #charityfundraising

🥇 𝗧𝗵𝗲 #𝟭 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗨𝗞 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝗻𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 🥇 The UK is among the top 10 most charitable nations in the world. 🤲 In fact, from 2009 - 2018, the UK had the world's second-highest donation rate (71%). That means the British public loves to donate to good causes. If there's a number one reason to invest in branding, this is it because a strong brand is the key to connecting with the public, potential donors, funding partners and volunteers on an emotional level. Charities and nonprofits that are growing their profile with the public, donors, volunteers, funding partners, and other key stakeholders have tapped into branding to better connect with their audiences. 👉 Your organisation can too.
