As June comes to an end, Charitable Ventures wants to recognize the importance of allyship beyond Pride month. Peg Corley, Executive Director of the LGBTQ Center Orange County, emphasizes in our podcast that allyship on a daily basis goes beyond just having thoughts against oppression. "To just stand back and internally say, 'I don't agree with what they're saying - I'm going to walk away'... that's being a bystander", Corley states. Allyship is an action word. Without action, communities continue to face oppression and the cycle never ends. Gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be an ally and what creating a more inclusive community looks like on our The Economy of Good Podcast with Peg Corley at bit.ly/TEOGwithPegCorley Join us in committing to practicing allyship beyond internal thoughts and beyond Pride month to better support our communities! #allyship #lgbtqcenterOC

June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate diversity, and inclusivity, as well as highlight the ongoing fight for equal rights and opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community. We are proud to stand with and support the incredible work of Mermaids, a charity close to our hearts. Mermaids is dedicated to supporting transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse children, young people, and their families. We believe that embracing and empowering all members of the trans community is crucial for any organisation, regardless of the industry. This is why we are honoured to fund Mermaids’ local group activities, which create a safe space to celebrate and uplift the community. Jo and the Thornicroft family have felt the benefit of the amazing work of this charity first-hand. The care they have provided, and their unwavering support have been a huge help and immeasurable comfort in such a turbulent and troubled time. We strive to support them, as they have us, in the hope they will be able to continue their important work and care for other families just like ours. Mermaids also helps businesses to improve their support of LGBTQ+ employees and customers through essential resources and CPD-accredited training. If you're interested in learning more about Mermaids' training courses and how to foster a more inclusive environment within your organisation, check out the link here: Training - Mermaids (mermaidsuk.org.uk) #Mermaids #PrideMonth #Community #Inclusivity #Equality

Johanna Moya Fábregas, Ph.D. visits the SnapCast. Dr. Fábregas is the Executive Director of Con Mi MADRE, a nonprofit dedicated to #empowering Latina girls and their loved ones through education and emotional support. We talk about Texas State Bill-Seventeen, which is known informally as “the anti-DEI law,” shutting down diversity, equity and inclusion offices like university LGBTQ+ centers. Among the things we discuss: * SB-17 is changing the nonprofit landscape, it's important to "SB-17 proof" your organization * Difficult decisions must be made when you lead a nonprofit and the important thing is looking at the big picture and moving towards the decision that will ensure sustainable growth * Even during difficult times, the goal is to continue supporting all participants to the best of our ability * How can an organization that's run for 20 years continue to run for the next two decades? https://lnkd.in/emw4QvuW

🌈 Celebrating Pride: More Than Identity, It's About Humanity 🌈 . Pride is about more than just identity; it's about humanity. . Nonprofits work every day to uplift and protect this truth. . During Pride Month, we honor the progress made and acknowledge the work still to be done. . Nonprofits are at the forefront of this journey, tirelessly advocating for the rights and dignity of the LGBTQ+ community. . They provide vital services, support, and education, ensuring that everyone can live authentically and safely. . These organizations are the backbone of the Pride movement, transforming challenges into opportunities for growth and acceptance. . They remind us that equality is a collective effort, and through their dedication, they inspire us all to be allies in the fight for justice. . As we celebrate this month, let's recognize and support the nonprofits making a tangible difference in the lives of so many. . Together, we can create a future where love and acceptance are not just ideals but realities for everyone. 🌟💪 #PrideMonth #EqualityForAll #SupportNonprofits #HumanityFirst

Some thoughts I have about #PrideMonth this year and how organizations can support the LGBTQ+ members of key audiences.
At Slide Nine, we embrace diversity and inclusion not just as seasonal observances, but as pillars of our work culture. We proudly stand with the LGBTQ+ community, not just during Pride Month but every day. Through our unique philanthropy initiative, we empower our team members to make a difference by providing each with $1,000 to donate to causes of their choice that promote a safer, more equitable world. #HappyPride #Community #DEI

Purpose-Driven Personal Branding | Helping Founders & CEOs Amplify Positive Impact | Strategic Photography for CSR & Changemakers | Award-Winning Charity CEO | Free 5 Day Personal Branding Course ⬇️
What can charities learn from tech startups? Over nearly the last decade, I've given hundreds of interviews about the work of our multi-award-winning charity, the Naz and Matt Foundation. Now, for the first time, I discuss in depth the power of purpose-driven storytelling and what charities and non-profits can learn from startups. I'd like to thank John Higginson and Higginson Strategy for inviting me to their podcast, Communicating Purpose with John Higginson. I've enjoyed the privilege of working as a CEO in both worlds - tech startups and the charity sector. In both areas, the power of telling a strong, unshakeable story behind your brand is what will connect to your audience's heart and mind. By understanding and really harnessing your 'why', you'll be able to: - Attract passionate supporters who truly believe in your cause. - Inspire donors to open their hearts (and donate). - Build a team of dedicated volunteers who share your vision and mission. - Create partnerships that amplify your impact. But here's the most important point: It's not just about WHAT you do. It's about WHY you do it. Tech startups get this. They don't just sell products; they sell visions of a better future. Charities can learn from this approach. Supporters need to understand why you do the work you do. Why it matters. And why they should care. 3 key takeaways from my chat with John: - Never be afraid of saying the important things that need to be said, but always be respectful along the way. - To get coverage of your work in the news, what you're doing and its story has to be packaged as something "new." The news won't cover you unless it's "new." - Build a strong brand. Your brand is more than a logo. It's the emotional connection people have with your cause. It's the people behind the work you do, including the CEO, team, and volunteers. It’s the stories of the people you have helped. Your brand is one of your most important assets. Invest in it. Remember: Every charity has a powerful story. Your job is to tell it in a way that moves people to action. Want to dive deeper into purpose-driven storytelling for your charity or non-profit? 🎧 Listen to the full podcast episode here: https://lnkd.in/eUHKABJx 💡 What's your biggest challenge in communicating your charity's purpose? June’s revelry and rainbows are an important time to celebrate and soak up the beauty and vibrancy of our community, but the queer experience doesn’t exist solely in a month. All year round, each and every day, we here at Kirrin Finch move through the world as queer people and queer allies. It’s imperative that we pause and highlight the work that needs to be done to lift up and protect our rights and safety. Pride started as a riot because our community was under attack, and the need to stand up and fight back is just as important today. Recent threats to our community are meant to intimidate, scare, and prevent us from living authentically. They are very real, and sadly, they are escalating by the day. We’re also disappointed to see a growing trend of companies and organizations shying away from showing up for the LGBTQ+ community due to hateful rhetoric. At Kirrin Finch, we recognize the importance of showing up all year long. We’re living it. We approach our social giveback strategy through three different pillars: donating time, sharing stories and resources with and about the community, and philanthropic giving to LGBTQ+ organizations. Today, we ask you to join us in living with pride every day by celebrating some of our amazing community partners as Kirrin Finch “gives them their flowers!” #futureoffashion #LGBTQ #advocacy #giveback

"To the Ends of the Earth" is a 12 year photographic project that traverses the dynamics between me, my mother, and my girlfriend. I can't describe the amount of work on every level imaginable it took to bring this work about lesbian experiences as a daughter, as a daughter in law, and motherhood to fruition. In a world that actively works against the LGBTQ+community; to silence us, kill us, and make us invisible, this has been my stability and whole heart. • This book published by @gost_books can only come to fruition through support via @kickstarter. I have always been shy to ask for help in this way, especially at a time like this in the world. However I also believe that art, world building and visibility is a lifeline. You can donate any amount you see fit, pre-order a book, or purchase a mix of prints and the book. • Here is the link: https://lnkd.in/eWDZPrU9 • Anything makes a huge difference - not just monetary support. If you are able, please share with friends, strangers, community, family. 🫶🏼🙏🏼🤍

With Pride Month upon us, you may start to see a lot of companies changing their logos and profile pictures to rainbows. And sure, any allyship is better than none, right? But if you want to do something real, something that isn’t just slapping a new color lockup on your logo, why not try out a bit of genuine allyship? If you haven’t already, now might be a good time to start incorporating pronouns into your email signatures. Or, if you want to do something bigger, your community is a great place to start. Whether you’re covering the cost of banned books by LGBTQ+ writers and donating them back to the community, or you’re producing pro-bono videos for a local LGBTQ+ nonprofit, there are plenty of ways to make an impact. As respected LGBTQ+ advocate Stan Mitchell said: “If you claim to be someone’s ally, but aren’t getting hit by the stones being thrown at them, you aren’t standing close enough.” Maybe it’s time for you to get a little closer.
