You might think that being in a debt fund is "secure". But if a lending fund runs into trouble, your dollars are the last level of priority. First, upon defaults and foreclosures, any payoffs or sale proceeds of collateral must make a list of claimants whole: 1️⃣ Buyers of the collateral at some discount off initial appraised value that falls short of the LTV. 2️⃣ Any leverage the fund incurred with outside creditors such as banks 3️⃣ Any internal leverage employed (in a higher position of the capital stack) with note investors ~~~ Follow Accredited Investor Insights for more on private markets
