In Washington, the American Cancer Society recently awarded $223,000 in transportation and lodging grant funding to alleviate the financial burden of transportation and lodging costs for cancer patients. Fred Hutch, MultiCare Health System, and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health were some of the systems that received grants to deliver assistance directly to their patients. ACS is grateful to work alongside PNW CEO Chapter members & health system leaders to address transportation and lodging barriers to cancer treatment in our community. #accesstocare #ceosagainstcancer

On this World Health Day, the theme "My Health, My Right" serves as a powerful reminder of the fundamental importance of understanding our rights to healthcare, particularly for individuals in #ruralcommunities who are frequently overlooked by the healthcare system. Looking forward to the rollout of the 2024 Celebrate Life #oncologyworkshops in partnership with specialist doctors to equip #primarycare health workers in the rural Eastern Cape about various cancers with topics ranging from symptoms, and diagnosis to treatment. For those fortunate enough to have access to healthcare, let's make use of the resources available to undergo screenings, as #earlydetectionsaveslives. Recent events have shown us that cancer does not discriminate and can affect anyone. #cancerscreening #cancerawareness #MyHealthMyRight #WorldHealthDay2024
What does #worldhealthday mean to you? At Celebrate Life Foundation, we advocate for early detection and cancer awareness because equitable access to healthcare is crucial for saving lives. Do you know that today, February 4th is World Cancer Day? Created in 2000, World Cancer Day has grown into a positive movement for everyone, everywhere to unite under one voice to face one of our greatest challenges in history. Educating, Preventing and Eradicating Cancer as we know it. Here in Delaware, CSCDE’s health equity efforts center on three values: access, affordability, and inclusivity, offered at no-cost. Access to and inclusivity of programming and patient education around the importance of screenings, prevention, and healthy lifestyles, especially for those communities who have been historically underrepresented and under-resourced, is accomplished via in-person, hybrid, and virtual offerings. We also ensure access to and affordability of quality health care, to include the prevention and mitigation of financial toxicity; we address health-related social needs so that each patient, caregiver, and loved one impacted by cancer can engage with programs and services that meet their unique needs. #ICYMI: Many current models of palliative care are not prepared to meet the needs of people who are vulnerably housed, staying in shelters or living in outdoor spaces. To improve access to safe and high-quality palliative care for these people, communities across Canada have designed innovative models of equity-oriented palliative care. Learn from communities through their promising practice summaries, outlining innovative models of care and the lessons they learned along the way: https://lnkd.in/gV4JC9z4 Canadian Partnership Against Cancer

Undergraduate Actuarial Science Study Program | Procurement and Logistics Intern at Siemens Mobility
🎗️6th February of 2024, the Webinar Safety and Health Talk for World Cancer Day with Fullerton Health "Health is for everyone. Health is not a personal matter but a collective asset that will help build a brighter tomorrow, a brighter future." - Audrey Vanessa. In the spirit of unity and knowledge-sharing, this webinar aims to empower and educate, fostering awareness about cancer prevention and overall well-being. As an actuarial science student, I gained insight into public health initiatives for cancer prevention, early detection, and access to affordable treatment. This understanding can inform my contributions to designing sustainable healthcare systems and advocating for policy changes to address cancer-related challenges. With that, I can be part of a movement that can make a tangible impact on our lives and communities in the future. For all the cancer survivors, you are strong, and I hope you never give up. 🎗️

Many Americans struggle with serious debt due to high health care costs. When a hospital system owns a doctor’s office, they can charge Medicare patients more for their cancer care, even if they never step foot in the hospital. Send a message to your representative asking them to vote YES on The Lower Costs, More Transparency Act (H.R. 5378). This bill would help stop wildly divergent costs for blood cancer patients, providing patients covered by Medicare the confidence that their routine care will cost the same regardless of who owns the doctor’s office or clinic. It takes less than a minute to do using LLS's easy action form. #LLS #advocacyinaction #cancersurvivor
