“Pay attention to me!” Your body and mind want your full attention - and that’s what tonight’s practice is all about. Asanas - yes. AND taking notice of the thoughts running through our head and the way each asana (posture) feels in our bodies. We often live in a state of disconnection. Our body is asking for rest/stretch/strength/grace/acceptance/whatever but we are BUSY so we ignore it until it breaks down and we have no choice. Or perhaps we have a running commentary about how much we have to do/how we need to go faster or harder/what happened earlier/what’s happening later. We are often not in the now. These disconnects are precursors to injury, illness, stress and burnout. Yoga, which translates “to unite” is a tool to help us practice reconnection. Off the mat, this awareness can help us recognize our mind and body’s state and needs BEFORE they get to a breaking point. This is the primary reason yoga is a central theme in my wellness practice. Last week, I published my reflections and goals for 2024. My leading goal category: Personal wellness Here's what that looks like for me 👇 Guiding Phrase I will prioritize my mental and physical wellness to help me show up as my best self in other areas of my life. Goals: 1. Go to workout classes (cycle, yoga, barre) 3-5x/week. 2. Build movement (stretching, walking) or getting outside into each day. 3. Book 1 big wellness item/month (massage, facial, body wrap, sound bath, etc.) 4. Go to one extended wellness retreat. 5. Go to therapy/life coaching 2-3x/month.
