All young people deserve sexual and reproductive health programs and services that are inclusive, medically accurate, and free of stigma. But did you know that young people in larger bodies are less likely to receive programming and services that meet these criteria? You can take steps to ensure that adolescent health program settings are safe and inclusive places for all youth, regardless of their body size or weight. Our new meeting package will guide your team to: understand the impact of unfair or unequal treatment of young people because of their body size; carry out a program self-assessment; and take action toward size inclusivity in your program: https://lnkd.in/g33tjHmx

Today, we stand in solidarity with everyone impacted by bleeding disorders. 🌍 As we approach the World Federation of Hemophilia Congress, it's crucial to amplify their call for "Equitable Access for All: Recognizing All Bleeding Disorders." This is more than just a slogan—it's a mission. 🔴 Why does this matter? 🔴 Engaging with key stakeholders in real-world preference and outcomes research brings the voices of those affected to the forefront. The insights gained are invaluable—they help shape treatment developments, support programs, and inform policies that truly make a difference. We are deeply thankful for our partnerships with advocacy groups and are committed to continuous support. Together, we can create change and ensure that every voice is heard. ❓ If you’re as passionate about making a difference as we are, join the conversation. What do you believe are the unmet research needs in bleeding disorders, that should be prioritised given this WFH call?❓ #Hemophilia #vWD #Glanzmann #BernardSoulierSyndrome #Bleedingdisorders #WFHCongress #Healthcare #Advocacy #ChangeMakers #Preferenceresearch #outcomesresearch

I am always interested in further understanding ways to mitigate the impacts of substance use disorders on vulnerable populations and appreciated Manatt’s recommendations in their recent highlight on “Improving Access to Care for Pregnant and Postpartum People with Opioid Use Disorder.” The article notes the significant role of Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) in enhancing care for pregnant and postpartum women grappling with OUD and emphasizes the need for policy changes to increase access to MOUD - a proven, evidence-based treatment for OUD. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, these insights are more relevant than ever. Let's continue to advocate for comprehensive, data-driven solutions to address the far-reaching impacts of the OUD epidemic. Link to full article in comments. #opioidusedisorder #maternity

🎉It’s #maternalmentalhealthawareness week! 🎉 🤓 Did you know? 1 in 5 birthers will experience a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder That’s approximately 800,000 impacted families per year! And researchers know that this number doesn’t account for all of those who went unscreened, unassessed, unsupported. In fact, only 20% of postpartum women report ever being screened. Out of those that are screened, ONLY 15% are actually connected to care! 🤯 This is why. This is why suicide and overdose are leading causes of maternal mortality. This is why. This is why we advocate. Educate. Lift our voices and join our forces. You are seen. You are loved. You are not alone.

Listen back to SVUH’s Siobhan O'Dea, ANP for Sexual Health, on RTE Radio 1 promoting Sexual Health Awareness Last night, our very own Siobhan O'Dea, Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) for Sexual Health, had an insightful, factual and empathetic conversation with Trevor Keegan on RTE Radio 1. Trevor visited our sexual health clinic at SVUH for a full STI screening and the interview covered a wide range of essential topics on sexual health services. Siobhan's O’Dea’s top tips: 1. Comprehensive care: Every infection can be treated and most can be cured! We'll quickly get your results back to you and arrange a follow-up if needed. For bacterial infections, we aim to see you back with us within a day or two. 2. No stigma: There's no need to feel embarrassed about getting screened. If you have a regular partner, we offer partner notification services and treatment to help prevent reinfection or transmission. 3. Expert advice: Don't google your symptoms, self-diagnose or order medications online — and definitely don't phone a friend! If you have no symptoms, visit www.SH24.ie for a free home test or come to our STI clinic, your GP or any sexual health service for a screening and appropriate treatment. Staff are here to help! At SVUH, we offer STI services for symptomatic patients by appointment only. To schedule an appointment or for more information, you can reach us via email at [email protected]. Please note, our email is monitored during daytime working hours from Monday to Friday. Due to the volume of inquiries, we appreciate your patience as we respond to each query.
