The U.S. Surgeon General Murthy issued a public health advisory about the impact of modern stresses on parents' mental health yesterday. "Behind this youth mental health crisis is real crisis with parents, where many of them are struggling with profound stress and with their own mental health challenges," Murthy told Reuters in an interview. "If you really want to help kids, one of the things you've got to do is actually help parents." This is why CFAR clinicians work with families as a whole, rather than just focusing on the individual. The impact is exponentially greater, and the families we serve are better prepared to deal with the stresses of daily life.

CFAR is proud to announce that our Board of Directors has an incredible new slate of officers. Though she has been in the role of Board Chair for only a few weeks, Dr. Erica Patterson, DM has already accomplished so much. She is joined by Lisa Dugan as Vice Chair, Philip Holzhauer, CPA as Treasurer, and Nicole Wixted as Secretary. We can’t wait to see where this dynamic group will take CFAR, and we look forward to sharing more about them in the coming months. CFAR held our fourth annual movie night on Friday and we were thrilled to see so many in the community come together to enjoy a beautiful evening at Pelbano Rec Center. Our wonderful staff volunteered to share mental health resources with the attendees, and hand out LOTS of snacks and water! Huge thanks to Philadelphia Parks & Recreation for hosting, and to Herrs Food Inc, Just Born, Inc., and Target for their generous donations of food and drinks.

The 7th Annual Philadelphia Trauma Training Conference at Thomas Jefferson University last week was such an impactful event for our clinical staff. Everyone on our team that attended, including our Director of Outpatient Program-Northeast Jamica Cropper-Pam, came away with important knowledge, innovative ideas, moving experiences, and excellent connections. CFAR’s clinical team is known for our trauma work, and we are looking forward to continuing to strengthen that aspect of our services for our clients.

We are really appreciative of the attention that the Attorney General is bringing to impact of gun violence on mental health. CFAR's Together Through Trauma program has been working with communities that have been traumatized by gun violence for several years now and the need for the programming continues to grow. CFAR is looking forward to expanding the Together Through Trauma program as funding allows, and expanding our Outpatient services for youth and families with the help of the recent award from the Attorney General's office!

Center for Families and Relationships is excited to report that we have received over $520,000 from Attorney General Henry. CFAR received these funds to bolster mental health services and related programs, following the closure of the Juniata Community Mental Health Clinic. CFAR plans to utilize these funds to hire staff to increase and improve direct services for our clients, and we are so honored that AG Henry chose CFAR based on our excellent reputation!
