👥 Had an inspiring 40-minute meeting with Matt Weston at King's Academy Brune Park today where he described his innovative idea for a Question Level Analysis (QLA) tool! Matt envisions a system where students input their science exam grades and receive an email with a detailed analysis. It would include a clear breakdown of strengths and weaknesses and an action plan for the next steps, all within minutes of the student pressing submit. I suggested leveraging live data from Arbor Education, and automatically updating department trackers, significantly reducing admin time while empowering students with prompt feedback and actionable insights. Teachers will be able to see how the class is performing and Matt can look holistically for gaps that need addressing. Suggesting which tools to use, functions and formulas to apply to make a project like this happen always excites me. The seamless integration of a range of tools from the Google Suite and Arbor means teachers can tackle such challenges efficiently. It’s always thrilling to discuss ideas that can make such a positive impact, and Matt's enthusiasm for using IT to break down barriers in education is truly inspiring. 🌟 Matt is a fantastic Science and STEM leader, and his dedication to innovation is paving the way for more efficient and effective learning environments. 👏 #EdTech #Innovation #STEM #Education #GoogleForEducation #Arbor #StudentSuccess #Efficiency #Leadership

#Digital #Learning is here and it is just beginning...... There are always changes in education, whether it was caused by ideology, pedagogy, technology..... The current form of higher education did not come in one day but through hundreds of years. Teaching methods and tools changed as well along the time axis. I still remember the first day I learned how to use a "slide rule" when I was a freshman (now you know how long I have been along in higher education ;-) but it was replaced by "calculator" when I became a junior student. Before too long, the simple calculator was replaced by more sophisticated hp programmable calculator in early 1970s. Remember the punched cards you brought to the computer center, a boxful of cards. Then it was replaced by a CRT console typewriter (yes, CRT stands for Cathode Ray Tube, do you know what that is?) No more punched cards! Now a new generation of tools come along, digital transformation is becoming a part of life and education is no exception. Yes, it is hard for some of the senior citizens to learn how to use these tools when, in the good old days, there were only pencils and papers. You know how hard it is to get online to do e-banking, e-registration, let along online purchases and transactions. Yes, it is different era, a rapid change era with new technologies and new ways of learning and teaching as well. But one thing stands true over time, which is lifelong learning, so get up and be ready to learn. Don't give up, just try it step by step. If teachers cannot handle the new tools or any new discoveries, how can teachers stay in front of the advancement as pioneer, a leader, or a changer?

It's true - I left academia because of family. While we typically separate our personal and professional lives (often for good reasons), I think particularly for academics it's important to highlight the overlap between the two. I recently talked about this with Oliver Back who interviewed me for his company's blog.
