The mission of public health is to promote safer, healthier and better-quality lives, prevent disease and injury, and ensure all individuals have the right to access all the facts, information, and knowledge available to make healthy choices for themselves, their families, and their community. In partnership with communities across the United States and around the world, the CDC Foundation works to improve health outcomes by developing effective programs and tackling systems. Health is more than the absence of disease. It is not just about surviving. It’s about thriving. This Juneteenth, let us celebrate the resilience in our communities and all reinvigorate our commitment to everyone living their healthiest life. Together, we can reinvent our systems and practices so everyone can reach a better quality of life. #Juneteenth Image Credit: National Museum of African American History and Culture. It's National Public Health Week, and this year's theme is "We Are All Public Health." The National Public Health Week website reads: "Public health is more than just health care. It's the steps we take to make sure our neighborhoods and environment are free from pollution. It's making sure our food and water are safe to eat and drink. It's also the relationships we foster in our communities. We're all interconnected. When we all come together to support public health, all of us — individuals, families, communities and the public health field — can achieve the goals of public health." What can make our neighborhoods healthy? here are some ideas: https://brnw.ch/21wIrCo

Health disparities are driven by a range of factors, including unequal access to quality healthcare, economic instability, and housing insecurity. Discrimination, education gaps, and limited access to healthy food also contribute to these preventable differences. By addressing the root causes of health disparities through action on the social determinants of health, we can create healthier communities for all. Learn more at Michigan.gov/SDOH.

Designing for the Human Mind to Build Better Brains & Buildings | Senior Project Architect & Passionate Neuroscientist | Creating Human-Centric, Cognitively Enhanced Environments
Design is indeed a public health intervention and should also be considered as a public health right.
In honor of National Public Health Week’s theme “Protecting, Connecting and Thriving: We Are All Public Health,” we’re uncovering why design is a public health intervention, starting with making healthy community plans. Our health district planning framework considers how the places where we live, work, learn, and play profoundly impact our well-being and quality of life. By prioritizing place, population health, partnerships, and performance, we're building on health systems' growing commitment to tackle the social determinants of health in the neighborhoods we serve. Through this lens, we hope to create vibrant places that support a healthier future. Explore our booklet for transformative opportunities, our toolkit of community-driven solutions, and more:

@Mike Bloomberg your work as Mayor of New York has inspired me and helped Hong Kong install two new pieces of legislation. Who is going to tall me the trick on how to enforce it? 1* The HKG FEHD Harmful Substances in Food Regulation (Chap. 132AF) –https://t.ly//DQSey 2* The new Occupational Safety & Health Ordinance Chapter 509. https://t.ly/0qhWN Which makes it clear that staff in kitchens must be able to work in a hygienic and safe environment.

The history of public health is a chronicle of billions of lives saved from preventable deaths and diseases, thanks to the heroic work of generations of people. And yet, most people have never heard of them, or ever notice the public health protections that keep them safe every day. On March 26th on PBS, watch The Invisible Shield, a four-part documentary supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies that tells the story of how we've built a world where people are living longer, healthier lives than ever before — and celebrates the unsung heroes who made it possible.
