Do you ever wish you could go back and give a better answer? That happened to me today. During my presentation, I stumbled a bit when asked about our partnership with food banks. I realized later how I could have prepared better for that question.
Here’s the response I wish I had given:
Eleven years ago, I spoke with the CEO of a food bank who said, "We need to work on shortening the line," meaning we should focus on solutions that reduce people's need for food banks. Fast forward to today, the line has only grown longer. We're losing agricultural land at alarming rates, and Texas has become one of the most food-insecure states in the nation.
While food banks are crucial in addressing immediate hunger, we must also pursue long-term strategies and collaborate across multiple sectors to truly shorten that line. Food banks alone cannot solve this complex issue. We need to support them while working on sustainable solutions that address the root causes of food insecurity.
Thank goodness for social media. I can post my perfect answer and now I will not loose any sleep over my stumble 😉
