Given the number of people sleeping rough/in unsafe conditions, it's outrageous that the 'Emergency' bit of this strategy hasn't been acted on yet. I get that there are lots of housing issues to discuss - but there is absolutely no excuse for there being no replacement night shelter 9 months on from Graih's shelter closing. The numbers and need were, and are, evident. And the number of people who've accessed emergency B&B/hotel through ManxCare since then is much lower than the Graih figures were for similar periods, because some people either can't or are anxious about going through a government agency to access the help. We have an urgent need for a properly funded, but independently run, shelter and we need it now. The clue's in the name: 'Emergency". https://lnkd.in/dizhM9jQ
