So now that I know my boss won’t be blindsided by this announcement, here goes:
I’m moving to Morgantown, WV. Currently, it seems like late August is the time frame I’m looking at.
Truth by told, I’m conflicted in my feelings. I’ve worked the Jewelry department at Macy’s Huntington Mall for the past 3 years, which has been a rollercoaster of product allocation, payroll budget, and mixed shrink issues that have taught me an insane amount of useful lessons in taking ownership of a department, even if that meant I didn’t have the “title”.
I’m currently seeking my next opportunity. I’m a resourceful, driven individual who is constantly trying to find new ways to build successes within my work zone. At my current role, I consider myself an integral part of the growth we’ve seen.
To express my faith in myself, I’m going to share a condensed tidbit of my focuses/goals/accomplishments I had within my 3 years in jewelry.
Year One:
-Operational compliance (damages, RTV, transfers..literal years worth)
-Understanding the margins
-Total standards reset
-Product allocation changes tying into product maximization
-Redirecting product flow
-Product knowledge product knowledge, product knowledge
-Deep cleaning
Year Two:
-Team building
-Sales coaching
-Asset protection standards
-Assisting with other sales
-Brand building
-Collateral changes
Year Three (past 14 months):
-New Full-Time colleague that lasted longer than a month or so, therefore complete retraining. I advise newcomers that jewelry takes months to feel fluent in the processes. It’s not meant for everyone, I’ve accepted that.
-Bigger, better numbers
-Client relationship building (Landed me a personal best in our most recent LeVian show)
-On trend to meet personal department volume goals (more than the company plan for us)
-New product being allocated to our location
-Consistently selling products via transfers.
-Encouraging my coworkers to find their weak spots and come up with ways to bridge the disconnect. Usually a product knowledge or process knowledge issue.
-Care plan conversion is #2 in the division
-Fiscal year 2023 was +12%
-April was up roughly 73%
I know I’m capable of leading this form of change anywhere. I know I’d even be capable of this amongst a group of stores. I know the job market is turbulent right now, but if you’re looking for dedication and growth, I bet I can help you find it.
I’d love a travel job, but that’s not a requirement. Please let me know if you have any contacts in the Morgantown area I can connect to, or if someone from Macy’s wants to offer me a travel job, I’d be open to that as well.
Tagging my division leader Chris Krenek in case he magically has an open position that would work for me.
